2 жыл бұрынWith a population of just 22,000 people, and measuring just 24km wide, the tiny island of La Gomera feels like an almost untouched paradise. This is the third smallest and third least populated of the Spanish Canary Islands - just off the west coast of Africa.
We headed off from Tenerife and grabbed the ferry to the magical island of La Gomera- for a two day motorcycle road trip around this stunning island!
This is the island of Cristopher Columbus; his final stop to replenish his ships before heading off and stumbling across America!

The guanches lived only in Tenerife. In El Hierro, bimbaches; in La Palma, benahoaritas; in La Gomera, gomeros; in Gran Canaria, tamaranes, and in Fuerteventura y Lanzarote, majos.

La Gomera is excellent, in fact I know a hotel on the Island, which is amazing and is on the top of a cliff with great views. However they have a private beach down below, accessible only by private elevator, which, is a door camouflaged in a piece of rock. Total Bond style, that quietly drops to down to an amazing beach complete with a fab restaurant. First class cuisine, beautiful clean sandy beach, but only accessible by the hidden rock elevator and PIN. Only in La Gomera. Great vid mate!

You'll always be welcomed and loved over here.I would recommend you a trip to La Palma, la Isla Bonita, and watch the currently erupting volcano and El Hierro, very tiny and where the Time Meridian was stablished for the first time.

Definitely a Fiat 127. So glad you liked La Gomera. It is stunning. Europe's best kept secret, alright. As I said before, we went in 2002. Also earlier that year, we went to Bali and did a couple of days on Lombok. No electricity then. Has it commercialised now? Now to have the rest of my lunch with the image of CC bob bob bobbing along with Bobadeer still in my mind.

Great Part 2 and filming as usual by Monika. Interesting to note that Columbus had a thing going for Dona Beatriz Bobadilla. There was a bit of a moment of comedy as you were going up the stairs of the tower and were describing a night on the tiles and returning after a few pints to visit his Bobadilla. Well I suppose there hd to be a bit of light relief before an unknown Atlantic crossing! Hotel absolutely superb. Breakfast superb. I understand the need for superlatives!

Awesome channel. I’ve been following you about 6 or more months. Only stumbled on your channel because it was suggested on KZfaq as I have a Triumph Bonnieville too . You and Monica do a great job on filming and editing and also adding in the gear reviews as well facts about the area for tourists. Beautiful vids lately. Nice music choices too! Love the connection with old cars too! I’m in Canada , so we would never see those type of cars on the roads here as daily drivers, yet I’m in my mid 50,s and I remember many of them as they came on the market. Look forward to your future work! 😎👍👍

Fiat 127 they were sold as in U.K./IRL. My first car in 1979 was a red 3 door . Red was the best colour for them as you didn’t see the rust as much that way 😂 . Great video again Freddie & Monika. Also the rock at 15:25 I was there on a tour and apparently they’re volcanic plugs, the centre pieces from past eruptions which became exposed as the softer outer layers eroded away.

I could say many thing's, but the number one thing that hit me in this & a few other of your vid's is how classy Monica always dresses. She remind's me of how properly dressed our society used to be 50-60yrs. ago. None of this provocative attire that many(not all) women wear today. Been watching your vlogs, most of the U.K. ones and I think all the Canary Island ones and enjoyed every one even though the commentary is not always accurate. As a frequent visitor to the Canaries (25 times in all but not visited El Hierro) I like to see places you visit as we have visited as we always hire a car and explore off the touristy track. Also I have the same interest as you when I come across an old rare or classic car or motorcycle, love your enthusiasm, I have a 1972 Honda CB450 K5 in show condition and yes I do ride it but only in summer. Monika does a great job as well, thanks both.

You showed of La gomera brilliantly Freddie and Monika well done, Exploring places by yourselves the way you to have is the best way ,coach tours are ok but you don't really get to appreciate a place like this by cramming it all in a day, And yes it is a Fiat 127 used to see loads in the 80's in the U.K.

Another great video Freddie. When you go back to mainland Spain on the ferry to Huelva. Take a short detour to Monosterio de La Rabida where Columbus stayed before setting sail. Also Close by is Muelle de las Carabelas. Three replica ships he sailed †o America on. Not far from the ferry port.

yeah, Fiat 127, my uncle had the 3 door with a 1050cc, and what a great raspy exhaust note it had, we had the van version later on, the Fiorino, had a gear shift like stirring porridge

Hello again Freddie / Monica. Indeed, that house that you had behind you at the end of the video is the Casa de La Aduana in La Gomera. Too bad you couldn't get into it; since you had seen the well, from where it is said that Columbus supplied himself with water for his long journey. I sincerely think that if you have had in La Gomera, that sensation of a virgin island to tourism. When you visit the island of El Hierro, you will realize that this is truly the most virgin island in this province. Along with La Graciosa (which belongs to the other province and that one has no roads). 😉 Freddie, I see that you are a fan of the history of the Canary Islands, so I recommend you again, that you visit the Museum of Science and Nature of Tenerife, so that you can contemplate authentic Guanche mummies. Keep enjoying the islands.

Said it before, and I'll say it again.... Monika, you have a director's eye and a cinematographer's skill for composition and colour. Freddie, you have apparently unbounded enthusiasm and such a likeable demeanour. Why isn't the Discovery channel begging you both to do a series? BUT... Please clean your bike and lube your chain!!!!!

Sorry forgot to say, your enthusiasm for history and explaining it so well regarding Columbus. Not that I had given it much thought but I guess, I imagine him jumping on the boat, ignoring the sat nav (which of course was all they had to follow) no, let’s go west, Crew “don’t be daft, we have no mapping on the ‘sat nav’ for that way” I’m in charge “right hand down a bit” (you’re probably too young to remember ‘The Navy Lark’) ! In my mind I imagined CC arriving at a USA shaped piece of empty land and sticking a flag in saying “I shall call this America” Of course so far from the truth. Thanks Freddie, gonna get my history books back out (could Google it) but, nothing nicer than reading proper history books. Thanks for rekindling my interest in history. Just hopping back to CCs nights of passion with the Island Leader good on him, of course, being ex Army a night of passion with a Bombardier would be quite frowned upon 😂😂😂

Really glad you enjoyed it!🙂 I couldn’t stop thinking just this- a journey into the unknown, and then what that journey represented afterwards. And CC must’ve had a few nights where he doubted his theory/plan! Enjoy dusting off the old books!🙂

I have a pair of fairly new bike boots which are really quite uncomfortable and have been looking for a good looking comfortable replacement. Couldn’t find anything I liked then I remembered your video in the flat where you showed your 8 prs of favourite boots. Went back and reviewed the vid. I ordered a pair of the Falco Aviator. What beautiful boots stylish and comfortable. I love the double zips. Thanks for the ‘heads up’ Mate. Perfik 🤪

Truely magical place there guys it is amazing how hotels in Spain make British hotels pale into insignificance against them both on visuals cleanliness and food for the most part I don't say 100% because as in the uk there bad one I am sure but on the whole there is no comparison .Are their any Guanches distant relatives left or did their gene pool dilute down so much they effectively do not exist today .Such rich history there you and Monica could do this stuff world wide get a Harley in the states and maybe an Indian in Canada and something else in Greece and Italy and so on it would be great your both naturals at it ,and with Monica you know you will never have to sleep in a flee pit place or eat in bad surroundings with iffy food : D . Have you noticed there are no manholes in the roads it's paradise for bikes without doubt .Cheers guys : )

It’s very true- the quality of the hotel and general cleanliness of the surroundings is on another level! Interestingly, La Gomera has the highest % of DNA links to the Guanches out of any other Canarian island! That sounds like a dream- a Vespa for Italy, and a Harley for the US🙂🇮🇹🇺🇸
