Come on, since when are we affraid of innovation? Just like the first airplane this is far from the end product, but it's a step in the right direction. And if it doesn't work, at least we tried!

@@Rickyzzzzz Hopefully we will never be afraid of innovation. The problem here is even if something like a "hyperloop" would be possible from a technical perspective, financially it would never be useful because you can only transport a very limited amount of cargo. Building and maintaining these vacuum tubes on the other hand would be extremely expensive. The hyperloop is not a new innovative concept. The idea has been around for a century. The reason it never left the concept stage is it's nearly impossible to build and maintain and it's less useful then other modes of transportation because of less capacity.

@@Rickyzzzzz Because the problem is not, if it technically doable. It is. Has been for a hundred years. BUT this system is more expensive than regular train, more dangerous than regular trains, can transport LESS passengers, than regular trains, and for most tracks even SLOWER than regular trains or their Shinkansen counterpart. And maintaining that vacuum costs a shitton. A singular oneway ticket would probably cost more than 10 flights with the Concorde.

Testing for less than half a kilometer at a peak speed of 100 KPH in a "low pressure" tube does not demonstrate that the concept will scale to hundreds of kilometers at 1,000 KPH in a vacuum tube.

Nice setup. What will be the maximum speed/acceleration over the 400 meter? Will it be anywhere close to the target speed of the 'real' hyperloop?
