Absolutely phenomenal 3000 meter run. Do not believe that this high school aged athlete can be outrun by any North American university female. Watch the 5000 meter final that happens the next day and she is so strong strategically. So strong mentally and emotionally and she comes second overall in the bloody 5000 as well on the next day. And this young lady just graduated high school. So please she is staying in Latvia with her coach of origin to keep up this tremendous training program. Love to hear from her coach one day just to know how the hell they have done it. Congratulations Agate Caune. Latvia is PROUD.

I love what she does, however, she is everything but strategically strong. She made a time trial... like she did in Budapest, which was 'winning' (qualifying) but was not sophisticated and can only be done by an outsider not dangerous from the favorites point of view (she was 4th in Budapest' successful qualification) or in case she is much stronger than her opponents and can afford to waste energy (juniors races)

I am very curious to see how she does in the world championship final against all senior competition. She may be more sophisticated than we know. Please remember that in the junior race she ran the 3000 one day and then came back the next day to run and win the 5000 as well. Agate has not had much time to recover from that ordeal leading up to the heats of the 5000m here at worlds. From my perspective as a self professed expert in "movement", there are still a few key elements that could be attended to and improved. I'm excited about Agate because I am of Latvian heritage and "I love track and field". I loved being a coach. Looking forward to the final. Hoping Agate Caune can show some "sophistication" and race a personal best time as well. @@veraciteabsolue1221

@@petergrinbergs8416 Her record is 15' vs less than 13' for her best opposants. We shall have to wait since she is only 19. Even Paris games might be too early. However it will be a pleasure to follow her race

Small correction- women have never run under 14 minutes. A competitive female time would be around 14 minutes and 30 seconds especially for anyone that is a clean athlete. Nevertheless, I also look forward to watching her race. What she does now is of no consequence whatsoever. It is all about the experience of being on the track giving it your best effort and absorbing it for the next time. What is protecting her right now is her youth and her trust in her own unconscious ability. I am getting excited.@@veraciteabsolue1221

Something around her area not many women do track so no worries she runs with Men and she said it help her alot.

I just looked it up and found out that Agata's name on Wikipedia, in the international linguistic alphabet, is pronounced SAUNA in Latvian, just like the steam bath.

No, it's not. I am from Latvia and her name is pronounced CAUNE, just like written. C like ts.
