The 6th and the final part of the commentary-free voting in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest in Millstreet, Ireland, as well as the prize-giving and reprise of the winning song.
Ireland are clearly leading with one jury to go, but the UK still aren't out of reach just yet...
When Malta casts its 12 points, what follows is one of my favourite 2 minutes in Eurovision history; the audience's reaction always makes my day.

I'm Maltese and I'm so proud of the way Malta voted here! And to people from the UK who are complaining, eventually Malta became one of the very few friends UK has in the Eurovision Song Contest (remember the classic 12 points to Scooch in 2007?) Unfortunately the UK did not reciprocate this year, giving us no points in this year's semifinal :(

Over time, I’ve grown to appreciate what an amazing song the Irish entry is (given that I had initially despised it). While I’d have still preferred it if Malta gave their 12 to the United Kingdom (the United Kingdom are my 2nd and Ireland my 3rd), Better the Devil you Know is the song that introduced me to the Eurovision, so I’ll forever be grateful. My personal winner of 1993 is Switzerland.

I don't think the quality of the contest dissipating has anything to do with anyone's sexuality, but the introduction of televote and the loss of the orchestra. Those two factors changed it beyond recognition. It's just a reflection of how our world has got more shallow.

I can remember watching this 18 years ago - Meine Gute! I always thought it was dodgy that they couldn't contact Malta - I mean come on - it's Malta not Mongolia. They managed to contact Bosnia which was in the middle of a war!! Malta historically had never really voted for the United Kingdom and I think the organising body knew the final result beforehand - which shouldn't have happened in 1993. No jury, at that time should have known others' results and neither should the organising body.

Well they gave 10 to us in 1991 and 6 in 1992. I think they were bitter because we didn't give them any points in 1992. Still I do think they changed their points last minute, which is why I've never forgiven Malta...

Well, who could blame them? They're holding their breath, waiting for a vote to either Ireland or the UK. These 10 points to Luxemburg threw it all wide open, meaning that if the UK had got the 12, they would have won with a single point to the death.

Remember this as well as a 13 year old. We were at a party where the parents had won tickets to go see it live in millstreet. There was a huge gang of us who were all metallers/grungers getting drunk and not really giving a shit until we watched the results. That last vote was such craic, a huge bunch of young lads in leather jackets etc jumping around the place when ireland won just to stick it it to the english...ah memories.

I fail to see how 2012 was a better contest than the ones from 2009-2011, all of which were great in terms of voting diversity (and, in the case of '09 and '11, song quality). 2012 just annoyed me with its one-sidedness and nationalism - but it's still miles away from how ridiculous the voting had got until 2009. And it was great to see so many people cheer the winner - I saw a great solidarity regarding Sweden's win in 2012, so maybe there's hope for the future.

She REALLY didn't want to be kissed and cheered did she, just look at that shoving of the hand to the lovely women wiping saliva off her cheek, anyone would have thought she would have been happy with the attention, thats what winning is about, i always thought Niamh a bit standoffish and snooty---Great voice, but sadly you need to be able to handle a bit of hard petting in order to make it, Maybe thats why we didn't hear from her again.
