If this song entered for Ireland like at least 3 4 years before this Eurovision, it would have definitely won.

Beautiful song from Ireland

I'm from Ireland and I liked this tune a lot. I was also there in the arena on that night in 2000. Towards the end of the voting, it looked as though the song was going to come 4th, before finally finishing in 6th place. Aaagghh!

Super singer! Absolutely loved this song. It still gives me goosebumps when I hear it. One of the very few songs ever in ESC where the words actually had meaning. It was wasted on the Eurovsion and should have been a world anthem to see us into the new Millennium then perhaps there wouldn't be so much hatred, bitterness and negativity! It is a very ugly world we currently live in with too many nasty people!

An innocent song pleading for world peace, only for the next decade to make all such notions seem laughably naive. At the time, I thought this song was cheesy. Now, I find it necessary.

Nature's child lays beside a mother's broken heart We stand denied the power and glory Bitterness can't feed the hungry, hate just leaves us cold It's time to change it I lit a candle in a dream I thought I heard Liberated voices crying freedom Open hearts, open doors in truth and honesty Let wisdom be the guiding light Celebrate the new millennium of love Where our footprints leave a harvest for the children Somewhere on our journey lies a world beyond compare I believe we all have the answer A cloud can hide a mountain And a face hide the pain Search until you find the answer There is no reason Who can understand man's inhumanity to man? Celebrate the new millennium of love Where our footprints leave a harvest for the children Somewhere on our journey lies a world beyond compare I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you (Celebrate the new millennium of love) Let our footprints leave a harvest for the children Somewhere on our journey lies a world beyond compare I believe we all have the answer I believe we all have the answer

TheRealTricky No need to talk trash. Not every1 is from the UK or Ireland or something OUTSIDE of Germany, where the word "Klischee" just has another meaning. It's just something like "prejudice" or "bias" and in this song there just aren't ANY prejudices. And the fact that this song isn't to be taken serious, 90% of the ESC participants or MORE don't enter the competition with songs of seriousness. And Europe blessedly doesn't vote on the amount of seriousness, just remember the winning song of 2000, Fly on the wings of love....not less full of so called "cliches"....
@lapponia779 жыл бұрын
LordDarts Nobody is talking trash here. TheRealTricky's post was in English - you can't expect him/her to understand the implications of a German word. I agree with TheRealTricky: the song is utterly clichéd in the English-language sense of the word; it's also incredibly earnest and takes irself laughably seriously, even though the basic message is empty and vacuous. The only trash on display here is the song itself. In my bottom 4 ESC songs of all time along with Cyprus 2012, Greece 2008 and Russia 2015.
