American Eurovision blogger, Alesia Michelle is going live to talk directly with you the fans of the Eurovision Song Contest to check on everything we know so far. Let's talk all the latest news in the Eurovision fandom and space.
The UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, and Sweden are getting special treatment in today's episode: Who will come out on top? Who could flop? I'll also do a quick check in on the odds, predicting the televote and of course talking directly with YOU!

The 68th Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in Malmö, Sweden. Semifinals and finals will be held May 7th, 9th and 11th in Malmö Arena.

@@AlesiaMichelle Please Alicia god save Eurovision from mandatory and diversity winners. That will definitely decrease the quality of the songs and destroy the competition. Stop this kind of American left thinking. It’s not helpful. Let the people enjoy music because its quality not because the country never wins or the singer is of a special gender or race.

I feel the same as you do about the same countries always winning. Yes, those countries have every right to be coonsidered. But after Ukraine's and Sweden's wins, Eurovision is starting to feel like a contest for only the same 5 or 6 countries. I could feel my excitement for the contest starting to wane this year, and I hate that.. So perhaps selfishly, I am rooting for an underdog country to take the title next month. Because if Italy wins, I just don't know. . . .

The problem with the German national selection was actually the international jury. They made sure only Max or Isaak could win. The German public voted for Isaak, to prevent Max from winning. If Ryk still would have had a chance to win after the jury votes, then probably he would have won the televote. I’ve heard/read from many Germans that they didn’t vote for Ryk because there was no point after the jury score anymore. Therefore, the German public can’t be blamed for this disaster, only NDR with their horrible voting system and the international jury. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭

THANK YOU for saying the UK is one of the best studio cuts we have this year! Finally somebody said it... I feel like the production value in this song has been underappreciated by fans all year. It doesnt give me winner, but its one of the better songs.

We can talk for hours (and I will) about the odds, the snippets etc. And in the end some people might feel robbed or disappointed. That's part of the deal with a competition. Maybe I'm oldfashioned but there's a difference between a prediction and wishfull thinking. This is the reason why I watch all this content. How do other people view it? Do I agree or disagree? With Alesia I don't see any bias except an affordable country and a country which has never won before, haha. I think this is the only event which brings Europe together. Not because of neighbouring countries, not because of the queerness. It is still about music and the performance. If money would be a problem for some countries I can think of a Super Bowl. Maybe not with Beyonce but with artistic advertisements and funding this event. Not my first choice but if neccesary.

Bambie Thug's staging is still a mystery to me. They released the shortest clip of everyone (only 14 seconds), and it was just a a bunch of quick cuts. I wonder if there's some reason for this?

Knowing how secretive Bambie's been all season, I wonder was it the Irish delegation asking for them to not show the big moments? Cuz even what was described we barely saw! We haven't seen those candles raise up yet - how fkin epic will that be. We haven't seen the flame jets at the end. We haven't seen the CROWN THE WITCH graphics on the screens. I'm also convinced there's definitely going to be a costume reveal and Bambie just didn't do it during this first rehearsal to hide things even more. They're playing it careffffullllly it's cool! #crownthewitch

People with a few drinks or young immature teenagers will vote and think Finland is funny - - - its not and it's pretty dreadful to listen to. (It's like past Eurovision nonsense.)

I am getting the feeling that we might get a Balkan split screen for the final two and we know who those two are. Andddd don't you kinda have a feeling that Ireland is becoming a dark horse and might actually win the Televote?

I think Poland has a dream draw of televote friends. With Ukraine, the UK, Ireland, and Lithuania all voting in their semi, I think Poland is a very likely qualifier. They will most likely also receive points from Iceland and Germany. I can see them receiving 8-12 points each from UKR, UK, IRL, and LTU, and mid-table points from ISL and GER. Some other countries would be very hard-pressed to match those numbers and that's just from about one half of the countries voting. I honestly feel that Poland is closer to being a definite qualifier than a borderline qualifier.

Quite the opposite. That part is what will sell the song to the jury and televote. It may be over the top but the song is dramatic anyway. That moment is easily a jury top 2 moment.

I don’t get this hate boner for Belgium in the live comments. This fanbase swoons over female ballads but god forbid a man provides the exact same thing. The comments about the long build up and repetition are valid but a bit pick-and-choosey because Serbia takes equally as long and repeats the titular line even more. I love both songs btw; just that if you want to be weirdly anal about a song then at least hold similar songs to the same standard.

Totally agree! This is one of those songs where i don’t see how you can dislike and say it’s not quality. Understandable to not love it but i find if odd that people say they don’t like it because it’s repetitive as if that’s a bad thing, the final minute has the choir and strings progressing it. There’s progression in the first 2 minutes anyways so are people’s attention spans deteriorated, especially as a euro fan you have all the time to sit with the song. Also unlike other male ballads we’ve had, Mustii has a clear vision and artistry about him which appeals to eurofans especially with queer representation, this song isn’t particularly in that ballad territory anyways. Eurofans simply can’t say they don’t like something without resorting to trashing it, the product of stanning culture i guess. Funny enough Belgium and Serbia are my 1 & 2.

While I'm personally a bit fed up of melancholy, grandiose ballads from Ukraine in the ESC, I have to admit that their staging this year looks beautiful. The lighting and amber colour palette really made them stand out. I thought most of the other entries looked overlit and washed out by comparison, but it's hard to tell for sure just from these snippets. Maybe they all could benefit from more subtle use of lighting?

rsrsr...the cubes will be used by Loreen, the tattoo song will be presented in a show version and we will all go crazy! And the Ukrainian outfits, so much fabric that they are going to die from the heat! I didn't like Poland's outfit, as Chanel would say, less is more.

You’re apparently the victims and yet your biggest worry is what an artist said in a song contest. It’s a self-report. First world problems - you’re not the victims. Also Switzerland is probably not winning and it isn’t because of your religion.

@ely03cassandra that's exactly what happend👍👍 during our national final voting in Germany the so called international jury- results were done and presented WHILE the public still could vote🫣🫣 . Very strange (to say it in a nice way) . Isaak then was the only option left to prevent M.Mutzke. And at least the result is not that bad at all. Not a winner but !!! One of the best and outstanding voices, that should count. My top 3 this year (no specific order) are the Netherland, Swiss and Croatia 🤗🤗🤗
