I purchased two EV cars in end 2023. Nexon and Atto3. Am extremely satisfied with the range, speed and comfort these new gen cars provide. Have charged 99% times from the comfort of home. For city driving charging the cars twice a week is enough. For outstation charging infra near Delhi is not all that bad. Have driven to neighboring towns several times and never faced any charging issues. One certainly has to plan and install the charging apps beforehand. Once you drive EV car it would be difficult to switch back to ICE cars.

u r staying at a area where charging station network is wide ...but for those staying at rural area where even proper roads r a myth and electricity is not there buying a EV defeats the purpose, plus u havent performed a long drive through a road where charging stations r nt there then i will c ur satisfaction...u agree or not India is still way behind US and China in terms of charging station network and infrastructure, i have seen lots of TATA customers saying most of the tata charging station r not working even if the app shows u they r and also the charging speed is very low....simply pushing people to buy EVs without establishing the infrastructure for that wont solve the problem,u cant take a EV as primary car in some tier 2 and all tier 3 cities...plus if u r a environmentalist then even ev cars cause much more pollution not directly but indirectly because extraction of lithium fr batteries causes much more polllution than the pollution caused by ice cars in their entire life. So at present scenario in India Evs r not the answer..best to go for hybrids

It's high time where Govt should reduce taxes on hybrid cars and encourage Japanese brands to launch more and more Hybrid cars in India.. Everyone knows hybrid cars are more Environment friendly compared to ICE cars and more practical compared to Evs but heard that some manufacturers are opposing the decision of reducing taxes on hybrids to 20% in SIAM because they don't have hybrid technology..not 100% sure about the news but if it's true then its concerning..

You just need to plan your trip properly and need to have knowledge of using mobile apps. In Tier 2 it is more advantageous as you can easily install rooftop solar panels and literally make your fuel cost to zero for short travels. And if current EV cars to be outdated in next 4-5 years then petrol and diesel surely will be. And Hybris cars will not add much value unless there is plug in hybrid option available in market.

When was the last time you saw a stranded EV? The main problem is the FUD from media channels. Who drives 400kms a day without stopping? Rule #1 of buying an EV. Take opinion from a EV Owner..not from someone who has never driven or owned an EV. Some how people are fixated with range and battery life post 8 years. Life of the battery is beyond the life of the car. How much range do you need for your daily needs? 450km? A 200km Tiago costs under 10L. How many automatic cars come under 10L with that kind of performance and running cost? Zero. Coming to charging infrastructure ..has anyone heard of "PLUGSHARE" ? There are over 10k DC fast chargers available right now. 90% of owners charge at home. Sure Evs right now aren't for everyone, but they make perfect sense for a city car.

The biggest problem of the EV is the battery. I am owner of an EV Scooter which I purchased before Covid. During Covid it didn't run that much so the battery of my E Scooter gets degraded to such a point that now after 4 years it doesn't even give 20 kms range. So from my experience, I will never buy an EV. Also 99% of people in India who drive cars have a daily usage of less than 20-30 kms. Which means buying a Petrol Vehicle will be much better than an EV any day. As you said, in the same amount of money, one will get a bigger car with better space. Someone who is spending more than ₹15 lacs on a car can easily spend ₹10k monthly on petrol. That's the cost to drive a petrol car without any headaches or anxiety.

Cities like Bangalore is best suited for ev's. With no road tax, the price difference between petrol car and ev is less and the infra is extremely good within the city. So even the low range car with lesser cost is perfect. Recently purchased a tiago ev mr variant and it's much better for city commutes than any other mode. Once battery prices are reduced, even in case of replacement, cost would be much lesser than today after 8 years.

Brother, the EV cars are not for everyone. It totally depends upon where you live and what your needs are. No person drives a car more than 200 km every day. I am an engineer. I worked on my needs and i purchased ev. My daily up down distance is 160 kms. And i am doing it very happily in my Ev. I charge my ev at my home. And it takes 4-5 hours to charge. And every day when i return home i return it with an above 30 percent battery. And I drive with 4 co passengers with 5 bags in the trunk. And speed is between 70 to 80 km/hr. And if you drive an ev for a single time you will not return back to ICEs 😀. The performance is mind blowing. It cruises and takes over like a sports car with no lags whatsoever. It is a brilliant concept. So, if your daily commute or up down is less than 200 kms and in your area there is no electricity problem then Evs are for you for sure. Before Ev i was a proud owner of Ford Ecosport Diesel and drove it daily for the same kms. And in one month it consumed a diesel of 18000 to 20000 Rs with a service cost of around 6000 to 7000 after every 10000 kms. And now ev costs me just 1.25 Rs per km including service cost. So, people apply your own mind, work on your needs and take decisions accordingly. Good luck.

Maruti is very smart. They knew well ahead of time that EV is not going to sell. So they have not launched EVs despite having their technology ready for EV. Very smart move. Now when the other manufacturers will struggle to recover their cost Maruti is comfortably placed as they don't have backlog of EVs standing in their factory or dealership. Now just watch Maruti, they will launch EVs only when there are as many charging stations as petrol pumps. Till then they will not take a risk. I'm not a maruti fan but just sharing my thought how smart they are.

EV is not future it is Hydrogen Fuel Cell
@candidonthestreetanupamgos52834 ай бұрын
@@sivakumarbalasubramanian5925 I even doubt Hydrogen fuel cell as it's expansive technology. Most middle-class people have local usage of their cars. Majority of population don't even drive more than 800 kms monthly. In that sense the addition cost of fuel cell cars won't be recovered by amount of petrol saved. For these low running cars how much worth of petrol you will buy in the entire life span of the car? It won't even half of the additional price you pay for the fuel cell technology. I'm just guessing. We actually don't have any clarity on the topic although so many experts are saying a lot about fuel cell cars just as they said about EVs. Best to use common sense and wait. Pure IC engines are always the best choice. And don't sell your old cars. Maintain them well and drive it for long long time just like US. More you sell and buy more cars on the road and more pollution it will create. All these BS 6/phase 2 and what not will not going to save the planet. The amount of cars scrapped in India annually is not even 10% of the new cars sold. So petrol/diesel combustion is increasing only. Govt should concentrate less on extracting revenue at the cost of selling BS6 Phs2 cars. It's only increasing the number of engines on the road both old and new increasing pollution.

Beg to differ Sir and the reason might be that I am based out of bangalore. The charging infrastructure is superb in Bangalore. I had shortlisted XUV300 for 16lacs onraod and XUV400 for 18.5lacs onroad. Finally went for XUV400. Reason 1 : For those based in Karnataka, Congress has Gruh jyoti scheme which offers no electricity bill at home upto 200units. So my running cost is practically nil and will be able to recover the difference amount fairly sooner. I know this might change in few years but until then I am enjoying the benefits :D Reason 2 : Simple calculation for everyone thinking battery replacement will be required or will be expensive... Let's take an example of NMC battery which is supposed to have 2000 charging life cycle on paper and XUV400 gives 280 km range per charge today. Worst case lets say NMC gives only 1500 charge cycles in its life time and lets assume I am getting only 100 km range per full charge on an average :) Simple multiplication for total range in its life time - 1,50,000km Now how many ICE engines practically run that many kms in their lifetime? :) PS : I really love your videos sir. I might be wrong but this is is my take on the whole EV thing :)

Too much range anxiety with EVs. People are not able to enjoy their long road trips and vacations because of this. They are having to charge their batteries 2-3 times a day during long road trips as single charge can only cover 200-220km on highway service is too low. Just imagine the headache. It's easy to say that EV should be used only as a city car but most people buy one car that can go anywhere. We don't buy one car for city, another for village, another for highways, another for mountains etc. etc. Charging infra is not good. Most fast chargers are still slow. Tata chargers are just 25KW which is not fast enough. Electricity rate at fast charging stations are already too high and will only increase going forward which will negate any savings made against not buying petrol. Resale value of EV after 8 years, when the battery warranty expires, will be next to nothing. This is because 50% of the car cost is the battery itself. The problems are too many. I am still a fan of EV but range and charging stations need to increase a lot more before it becomes viable for the aam admi.

EVs will only be successful if launched in 4 seater small segment, like Comet, Alto, Nano, E2O, and in a price range of 5 - 6 lakh. People will use them as local city car for day to day commute. Comet is an ideal car but still over priced by almost 2 lakh. Price is the greatest issue for a buyer. Why will people buy a headache of 'range anxiety' at a higher cost, when other fuel options are available at lower cost?

@Gagan is there a way I can reach you over the call atleast for 10 mins? I am stuck with a massive issue after buying Elevate ZX MT. In just 3 months (9000kms) engine got failed and started giving rattling noise. Now it's been a month in service centre and honda yet didn't confirm the issue. They couldn't diagnose it and keep on experimenting on the car not giving any solution. You guidance would be really helpful for me. I have captured the videos and communication/ conversation wid honda. I have uploaded the engine videos in my KZfaq shorts

Sir , you raised right point .As I am looking forward to buy a new car with latest technology since last 04 years . But coudn't buy it till date due to further scope of technological amendments in the EV, like solid battry and high range etc. also. It now seems will take take long time. So, again I am back to with petrol or cng car after lapse of 04 years. Both hybrid and ICE vehicle require atleast 4- 5 lacks extra budget. And hybrid require high maintenance cost.

I think the biggest problem prospective customer faces is inability to charge them at housing societies as they deny permission to install one. Charging them at commercial charging stations is improving but just beyond comfort level and nowhere near fuel stations spread. High price of EV does not augur well for those who travel for less than 4000-5000 km per month.

Right now, the EV technology is relatively new and the cost will be high as well but within 3 to 5 years, EV will be cheaper and more reliable than ICE cars. The only thing it need to succeed is a reliable charging network. This video suggests that EV is destined to fail which is a total misinformation.

Charging infrastructure is growing very fast. The only problem is when there's power cut ,the charger doesn't work and you are stuck. There should be provision of nonstop power supply for ev charging
@olifern4 ай бұрын
I think once a bigger player like maruti enters, the charging infrastructure should improve. We can already see that ola has taken giant steps in annoucing increasing the charging network by 5 times the current size. I drive my tiago ev in the city only and its possibly the best car for city. I've always charged at home and take the car for tasks which I used to do on bike earlier. For the highways I currently have a xl6. I think at this time, one can't have a ev for the hightway as the only car. It needs to be a second car. On popular highways, ev are possible due to known charging infra and youtuber reviewing routes / their experience driving the ev on that route. But unknown or less known roads, ev is risky. Govt should have focussed more on plugin hybrids more than the conventional hybrids. I think till now only mg had showcassed a plugin hybrid.

How about keeping a small portable petrol generator, around 3kw costing about 15000, in your boot for emergency charging? Let's say for the last 30-40 kms!
@smiralshah76354 ай бұрын
There are several factors for EV 1. Infrastructure for charging Not all people live in bungalows which can give easy access to charging, most people in the metro are in buildings and apartments. The people who can afford premium prices of ev 2. Charge times, In today's fast pace life people want everything fast, who has time for 8 hour charge, and above all range anxiety, running EV with constantly keeping an eye on how much battery left? 3. EVs battery replacement cost is higher and no one will buy it second hand once you use it for 5 years, who buys second hand EV with battery health of 50% This is all new tech so the people are excited, pls have some interviews with people who have EV for 5 years and ask them about anxiety, and will they buy 2nd EV? India has huge potential for EV if it was promoted honestly. Showing range of 500km and then giving real figures of 250km, is illogical

The hybrid point is really logically. That should be given preference. Nice info.

Make it easier to search for a charging station on Google maps. Additionally make it show if that charging point is occupied or not, if it is fast charging one or not. Then only people will start trusting ev cars. Make it an easier ownership experience.

Regarding the technological advancements of EVs it's the same as that of ICE cars. But as the EV becomes mainstream and reduces in subsidy, the features will be reduced and cost cutting will be more, so better to buy EV now. EVs(90%+) are higher and more efficient than ICE cars (30%). So EVs are the future, by strict BS emission norms ICE cars are going to be costly compared to EVs
@GauravDhandhukia4 ай бұрын

@@GauravDhandhukia Offcourse they can, Lithium price reduced by 80-90% in last 10 years. Every country is pushing for net zero. The only proven one is EV (as of now) with least total emission. Check the price of Diesel cars for cheaper versions, the same will happen eventually for petrol.

Bro the main problem is 1. charging time which is u have to wait for hours 2. Always stress your battery 🔋 is draining...if u r little bit out of the city or not close to the charging station what problems u r going to face... 3. Baar baar charge kerne peregee kam se kam 6 ya 7 hours ke liye... 4. Aur 4 saal baad battry kamzor ho jaigee..poore battry replace kerne mai 4 ya 5 lac ka kharch aaigaa..even battry repair bhi kerwaate hai woh bhi costly ho gaa. 5. EV aak sir dardy hai...koi sastee nai perty...kisi mechanic ke pass bhi chale jao woh bhi 1 gante charge kerne ke kam se kam 150 se 200 rupees le leta hai..aur ager 5 gantee charge ker lee to 600 to 700 rupees minimum to woh bhi le leta hai.. 6. At some states like punjab there is a power cut ✂️ at summer time for 5 hours or 7 hours and even at night time what these people can do ? 7. Resale value is more bad than petrol ⛽️ cars...because customer will think there must be battry problem or electric problem or some other issues so owner will get less value of his car. 8. You cannot take it for a long drives... 9. Its flop in moutains, in winters like 0 degree or in 35 or 40 degree, weather conditions..its flop in off roading, its flop... 10. Its only good for local drive but whynot buy simple petrol car for 7 or 8 lac rupees with 20 options like Base modelTata Tiago Tata altroz Tata nexon Maruti alto Maruti swift Maruti baleno Ignis Wagnor maruti celario Maruti s presso renolt kwid Hundai i 10 Now in the range of 10 to 18 lac Brezza Vitara Xuv 300 Xuv 700 Inova Harrier Safari Creta Venue Scorpio Sorpio N And soo many cars in the option of desial or petrol ⛽️ lovers Why someone needs headache in the name of EV ????
