I was there, and she spent pretty much all of Act 2 either singing through tears or trying not to cry. It was the most incredible theatrical experience I’ve ever had. The love and energy in the theater that day was astounding.

She did kill it, I saw it on Broadway less than a week ago and she was INCREDIBLE. Look up “My Green Light” on the tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, her and Jeremy Jordan did a performance on there if you want a sneak peek. That’s all I have until the cast recording comes out in a month 😭

I got to see Malcom cover for Hermes in June!!! He is literally incredible and brings a whole younger side to Hermes that you wouldn’t see from Andre or Lillias

The way Reeve turns right as she jumps out has given me chills since I first watched. You can see the emotion in Eva, trying not to cry because this is her last time singing this iconic reprise. But I’m sure this moment was emotional for the rest of the cast too. This is an incredible moment and I can’t get over it no matter how many times I watch it.

In my opinion, no one can fill Eva’s shoes. Eurydice is HER role. She’s everything Anaïs wanted for the role.

I know he isn’t featured at all in this clip, but was lucky enough to see Malcolm as Hermes a month or two ago, and he is incredible. I’m personally not the biggest fan of Lillias’ casting. It’s not terrible, but I don’t think her voice fits the role how I (personally) imagine it to be.

@@whysitthat3515 the thing for me is that I am ALL for gender neutral roles, but I just don’t think Hermes is 1. I think of Hermes being a father figure to Orpheus and a sort of “gentlemen” . And imo that is important to character, and I don’t think lillias fills that

@@goddamnrice I’m sorta in the same boat. I do like the idea of the Gods being gender-fluid or neutral, but idk something about Hermes being a male makes more sense to me. Especially with his specific role in Hadestown I feel like it works better

@@goddamnriceI agree to an extent- I do think a woman could be cast as Hermes, I just think it’s important to preserve the gentlemanly nature of the character. Lilias I feel (whether by her hand or the director’s) feminised the role unnecessarily through the costuming, the lyric changes, and just the way she performed it.
