This video is already so good and hilarious, but your comment made it even better somehow. Had me burst out laughing and giggle for a couple minutes. Take it from someone who actually likes Rent and this song (if you haven't seen/heard it or choose to forget it), Eva's version is SO much more entertaining and enjoyable than any other version I've seen. Not just sticking her hand out to mimick a candle. I mean she's definitely the star of this performance and Reeve is there for the ride because, why not, but he hits all the cues, which is not exactly easy if you're not 100% sure about the lyrics. Overall, I'm really happy this video exists. Made me rewatch some Rent and realize, yep, most of it is sub-par in comparison to this :D

I have no clue how either of them feel about rent, I would assume at least one of them likes it since elements of hadestown were inspired by it, but I choose to believe that Eva feels the same way I do about Mimi lol. Mimi is such an obnoxious character to me but Eva playing her like this makes it easy to interpret it either as "that's Eva being Eva" or "that's Eva also disliking Mimi and playing it up to mock her" so both rent haters and rent fans can enjoy. that's why I like her, it doesn't matter how you feel about whatever she's singing, she's obviously having fun so you're gonna have fun. plus yeah again it's Eva and Reeve so ofc I'm gonna watch LMAOO

The creepy yt algorithm just suggested the concert where she said she wants to play Mimi. It's the Summer Loving concert at Joe's Pub on 08-20-2023. It's towards the end so you may have to sit through another Rent cover, or even hate-watch an entire show if she does get cast as Mimi :D
