The RACE LIGHT is an all-terrain trail running shoe for short trail runs up to 40 km and competitors seeking speed and performance.
Before I go more in depth details, here are some disclosures
This pair of shoes was sent to me by Decathlon Singapore for test and review purposes, however they are not paying me to say anything good or bad about it.
So on this video I will share my honest thoughts about this it.
So the disclosures are out of the way. Lets talk more about it.
This is very light weight shoes, versatile durable, comfortable shoes.
Product Details
Lightweight
Weighing only 225 g in size 8, it's the lightest shoes for trail running.
Trail Running shoes are rather on heavier, however this shoes was built with such materials that drops the weight substantially.
Energy return
UP'BAR technology in Pebax® combined with a 4mm drop that promotes acceleration.
When we talk about drops, there are mix thoughts among runners, Higher heel to toe drop means better propulsion or lower drops closer to the grounds and performance from mid to forefoot.
So its individual choice.
Traction
Powerful grip on all types of terrain thanks to the 5 mm lugs.
These spokes on the soul, holds very well, specially on muddy terrain.
Fit
Its design provides precise adjustment options. (recommended for slim feet).
This is where it draws back a little cut its narrow fit so for those with wide footed this may not the ideal choice.

Durability
Matryx® mesh, made in France, providing durability, support and breathability.
I just got to run on these shoes for a few runs so cannot say for sure how durable it is, however my experience with decathlon shoes, they are well durable.
Cushioning
The EVA light midsole delivers a combination of lightness and cushioning.
While this is more minimal design so you may feel the ground, which for my case I enjoy the feeling.
Lace storage system
The benefit of securing the laces in a pocket is simply to prevent them from coming loose or catching on branches or undergrowth. What is the special feature of this strong stretch pocket? Rather than opening from the top, it opens from the bottom at the front the shoe. Consequently, the laces are more evenly spread inside the pocket.
Final Verdicts
lightness and propulsion. I'm sure you agree that 225 g in size 8 is relatively (very) light. As for the propulsion, it is improved by the UP'BAR technology and the low drop (4 mm). Bear in mind that the closer the drop is to zero, the more "natural" the running stride will be, i.e. more focused on the forefoot or midfoot area. In short, Race Light is a formidable all-terrain competition shoe!
