@@KnockManJo you are making quite a few assumptions on my position. Sure, you can help someone improve their situation, no doubt. However, the woman is this video was born with massive advantages.

@@KnockManJo I'd say that our environment plays an important role in who we become but how our environment affects us depends on our genes. "your comment seem to imply that genes made her great, more than her willingness to develop herself and the choices she made." --- I'm not sure how you can separate her genetics from her willingness to develop herself or the choices she made. Yes, she worked really hard, we agree. However, you've created this division between motivation to achieve and the genes we've been born with and I don't think you can do that. "Not because of genes, but because of what they believe about themselves. And that is a learned and acquired habit, that can be unlearned and replaced." --- You don't think genes + a given environment produce beliefs, habits, and skills about oneself? If you don't, we disagree. A given environment is filtered through our genetic "algorithms," which in turn produces negative and positive traits. "Extraordinary individuals will always be those who greatly develop themselves regardless of their circumstances, and the overwhelming majority of people can do that. If they don't that's mostly because of ignorance, not genes." ---- Everything in our environment is filtered through our genes and produces an outcome, for better or worse. "Once you truly understand that you can transform yourself to an unimaginable degree genes become irrelevant" --- Genes are never irrelevant. I can't stress that enough. Our ability and a Goats ability are two different things and that is because of the difference in our genetics at birth. You may say, "but we're different species" Yes, correct because we have different genetics given by our parents. True, there are much more significant differences between species than within our own species but those differences can't be ruled out. "for example you don't get to sing or act like her without thousands of hours of practice." We agree but this is irrelevant to my points. Have you looked into identical twins that were separated from birth? Those studies really speak to the power of genetics. If you have time, check out a video here on youtube called, "#211 - The Nature of Human Nature" by Sam Harris. The important part of that show is not Sam but his guest Robert Plomin I'd also recommend a book by Stephen Pinker called "The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature" Stephen Pinker is one of the most respected authorities on psychology and sociology. He really lays out a case that is undeniable. He's won quite a few awards for his work. Also, check out a movie called, "Three identical strangers" or check out the trailer here on youtube.
