Went down to to Tidal Basin on a cold and rainy day to check out the famous Cherry Blossom trees - a gift from the Empire of Japan dating back to 1912 - and while I was there I said goodbye to Stumpy, the famous little cherry tree that refuses to die.
Unfortunately Stumpy, along with about a hundred other cherry trees are scheduled to be uprooted and hauled away as part of an effort to shore up the Tidal Basin. I'm gonna miss him.
On one hand it was a wet and rainy day, but on the other hand, because it was wet and rainy, the Tidal Basin was devoid of people and I had a nice and relatively peaceful walk, which on a nice, sunny day would have been an impossibility.
