You've heard their defense of creationism. The world is 5,000 years old and Noah's Ark was the vessel where humanity evolved. The question is how does one actually come to belief this sort of insanity when we have overwhelming scientific data and historical data proving that the beliefs of Christian fundamentalism simply aren't true. Watch this video to see how the Christian fundamentalist denominations keep such a tight hold on their followers.
THE SECOND FALL. An offbeat account of what I think the Apocalypse would be like if Christ ever returned. A novel the fundamentalists will despise.

Years ago, I wrote a story about Jesus returning to every day Canada or USA. Suddenly there on a busy street, being laughed out of a clothing store, robbed of his Shekels, picked up by police and put in the police lock-up. All the good things he would know nothing about. So he took off and went back to where he came from. That was my idea of him returning. Reality: I don't believe he ever existed.

I just had an encounter with a Christian fundamentalist . I didn’t know it at first but when he started telling me that I can’t deny the prophecies in the Bible because he believed that were all true and that it’s like denying history. I started telling him about the Epic of Gilgamesh and how it’s the oldest known story that we know if he said I can’t prove that it’s older then the Noah story. Then I brought up go GÖBEKLI Tepe in Turkey or the Younger Dryas theory or any of the megalithic structures . He just said the flood happened just 5,000 years ago and the earth wasn’t as old as scientists believe. Crazy.

I had the misfortune of being picked up by a Jehovah's Witness during a hitchhiking trip as a 16-year-old. Suffice to say the ignorance on the topic of evolution "Do you really believe we came from monkeys!?" or "You think a giant explosion created everything in the universe!?". Pity I was not my current self, I would have verbally torn her a new one, but I was just a tired teenager who wanted to get home and to bed after having missed my last bus. This is one of the many reasons I cannot stand these cultists.

@@MrCool144Bot or brain? Christians live in a curated bubble so actually it is more like this guys a pin, though in my case it wasn’t a burst, more like a slow deflation. But regardless, Christian apologists like you aren’t able to comprehend the complexity of the issues. Doesn’t mean you are not intelligent, just theologically centric full of presuppositional conclusions. It’s all subjective. Then there’s the unpleasant reality that regardless of which Christian community I join, religious folk are hypocritical, judgemental, selectively empathetic, and their love is always conditional for the most part. And unfortunately not intellectually honest. So sure, worship freely, have fun deriding the purveyors of scepticism, and know that no human knows the truth…only their version of it. This reply has probably gone over your head. Please return to your brainwashing, confirmation bias, mental gymnastics with cognitive dissonance, your subjugation of real conversation and inquiry for biblical quotes and superstitious ramblings and of course, your inability to see the narrative manipulation of canonical decisions and the complete obliteration of what might be a loving God for the characterization given the Creator by white bearded old farts claiming all kinds of nonsense like God told me to sacrifice my son atop a mountain, kill the enemies including their children and animals…man, how do you people even live with yourselves? Oh yeah, progressive revelation, scribal errors, harmonization through cultural contextualization, not asking any question…sorry, I forgot all those strategic strategies by the saints. I’m so glad I’m free finally from all your delusions or at the very least, spiritual hubris that purports you are 100% right with your beliefs and interpretations.

In his commentary on the Epistle to the Galations in 1535 Martin Luther wrote: “Faith won the victory and routed reason, that ugly beast and enemy of God. Everyone who by faith slays reason, the world’s biggest monster, renders God a real service. Do not consult that Quackdoctor, reason. Believe in Christ.” Another of his seldom-mentioned opinons: “What harm would it do if a man told a good strong lie for the sake of the good and for the Christian Church…a lie out of necessity, a useful lie, a helpful lie…such lies would not be against God. He would accept them.” In my opinion, such thinking, let alone proselytization, should be opposed, ridiculed and rejected wherever it is found. That it should even require confrontation in the 21st century amazes me.

Recently moved to the Dallas area a few years back and am heartbroken to see how many brainwashed christians are roaming the streets. I'd like to just buy my groceries and be kind to others without being invited to some stranger's church.. I grew up in a fundamentalist home as a non-christian. When I was 7 years old, I started to understand how far gone my mom truly was. She'd drop me off to school and point out which of my friends would go to hell with me for not being christians. I had imaginary friends and she told me I was speaking to the devil. She lived her entire life pointing out the darkness and wrong-doing in others and continues to miss out on the joy of life and enjoying others

Sometimes you may find a man skilful in his trade, perfect in sagacity and in the use of arguments, but when he comes to religion he is found obstinate, so does he follow the old groove. Piety is implanted in human nature; it is deemed a sure refuge. To a growing child that which falls from his elders' lips is a lesson that abides with him all his life. Monks in their cloisters and devotees in mosques accept their creeds just as a story is handed down from him who tells it, without distinguishing between a true interpreter and a false. Of course not, because I believe deep down he understands how ridiculous his idiotic superstitions are. Anyway, I go to his house every Thanksgiving. Not once has he ever tried to get me to have anything to do with his religion. This year, however, he has "informed" me that we are going to "dedication" while I'm at his house. Unfortunately for him, he is in for a rude awakening. I don't think (as a matter of fact, I _KNOW)_ that he doesn't fully understand just how much I despise religion of all ilks. I think it is the bane of civilized society, the most evil creation of all humanity. And that's because he can't have a civilized conversation about it. Several months ago, he was complaining about his fundamentalist cousin talking about his faith-based bigoted and misogynistic rants on Facebook. I mentioned that they are all based in fairy tales. He then aggressively "informed" me that HE believes in Gawd! Okay, conversation ended. I'll chime in on this. Many are intelligent so to speak. And educated. But the brainwashing is more powerful. Just like some smart people think the earth is flat. John Baumgardner is an example. Geophysicist. Came with a hypothesis of runaway subduction to explain why the once one land mass that all the pairs of animal species got on the ark from, broke into pieces and drifted across the sea in 40 days but rapid tectonic plate movement. His own model produced a heat---by his words now, a heat that would have boiled the oceans. He ignores this. When questioned by others who reviewed it--other physicists--he wouldn't answer. Because the fundamentalist programming was stronger than his education as was Henry Morris--engineer by trade and with a PhD. He challenged Ken Miller at Brown U that there were no transitional fossils. Miller showed him not one slide but multiple slides of major transitional fossils. Morris answered and just continued to repeat there were no transitional fossils. He was proven wrong right there with a series of slides right in front of him and simply ignored it. So education is overrun by the brainwashing. Cheers, DCF

The answer is simple: - The reward is far too great to lose by turning away (heaven/bliss/eternal life/being with loved ones for an eternity). Who the fμck wouldn't want that? - The punishment is too severe for turning away (hell/torture/torment/eternal damnation, etc etc). Who would risk such a thing? This is why religion will never go away. The stakes are just too high for most people to think in any other way.

Here is something I think atheists lack in their religion. When I was in high school, our physics teacher was telling us about Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. He told us that a moving clock would be slower than a clock that was not moving. So for the moving clock, I imagined a clock in a flying airplane, and for the clock that was not moving, a clock on the ground. It was obvious to me that if the pilot of the airplane had a slower clock, then he would get a faster speed for the airplane than an observer on the ground would get using the faster clock on the ground to time the flight of the airplane. Then I read Einstein's book on the subject and was surprised to learn that the equations he was using and that scientists have used since his time showed that the pilot and the observer on the ground would get the same speed for the airplane. The entire idea behind Einstein's theory is based on this premise. So it is obvious that scientists are no more rational in their thinking than anyone else, since they will not even discuss this anomaly in their logic. One thing about scientists is that almost everything they do is related to war and preparation for war, whereas, Jesus and his disciples talked about peace and love. So I prefer talking about religion to talking about relativity, since there are only two reactions to what I say. The first is what I will get here, which is that no one will respond. The second is what an actual scientist would say, which would consist of profanity and insults. Go to the newsgroup sci.physics.relativity and search under Robert Winn if you want to see what actual scientists are like. I can answer truthfully about Jonah, Noah's ark, and all the other things this guy wants to talk about. I was not there. All I know about it is what was written. So with regard to those things, I just follow what is said in John 5:23 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son. Jesus Christ would be the best one to ask about anything you do not understand in the Bible. He is the one who will judge all things.

Worst is they promote the "Bible only" propaganda. It's wrong, Luther started it out on the reformation recently. They judge people. Condemns them. Instead of telling their members how to properly live in the world they told them to separate from it. 4.) They love to use fear. Yeah stay away from these evangelical conservative cults. While you're correct with your 1st statement, the bible does say fish not whale. However, it doesn't matter, no fish is large enough to swallow a man and no man could live in stomach acid for 3 days. Points 2 and 3 are total nonsense but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt PROVIDED you can provide actual scientific evidence to back you up. Evidence from REAL SCIENCE and SCIENTISTS NOT christian pseudo science, AND most certainly not some apologists claim about what science supposedly says (they are notorious for misrepresenting science and scientists and distorting what they say/teach). REAL science. I can save you the time, there is none. And the stories are utter nonsense that anyone old enough to reject santa claus and the easter bunny should have already seen through. The Bible can't even make up it's mind when Noah, family and animals boarded the ark. Did they board 7 days before the flood began? Gen 7:1 The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Gen 7:2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, Gen 7:3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Gen 7:4 Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made." Gen 7:5 And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him. Gen 7:6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. Gen 7:7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. Gen 7:8 Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, Gen 7:9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. Gen 7:10 AND AFTER THE SEVEN DAYS the floodwaters came on the earth. Or the very day it began? Gen 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month-on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. Gen 7:12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. Gen 7:13 ON THAT VERY DAY Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. Gen 7:14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. Gen 7:15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. Gen 7:16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in. And that's just the beginning of the problems with the dual storyline in the Goat Herder's Fables and Tall Tales book.

I love these videos; I like to show them to our youth group at my Southern Baptist Church. It shows others how little atheist KZfaqrs know of what the Bible teaches or what many Christians actually believe. For example, the video mentions how "a man was swallowed by a whale for a few days and lived." Of course, he is speaking of Johah, but did Johah live? Is this what the Bible teaches? No. In Matthew 12:39-40, we read Jesus saying, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Did Jesus teach that He was alive in the tomb for three days? No. He taught that His body would be in a grave, but His soul would not, Luke 23:43. In Jonah 2:6, we read that he "went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit," (the pit is bôr cistern; pitfall; world of the dead) As I, and many others, read this, Jonah's soul went to Sheol shortly after the event occurred. Jonah reads as if he had died shortly after being taken by the sea creature. If someone comments that they were taught in their old Church that Jonah lived through this, that is fine; but bad ideas like this are not limited to religious people. For example, the former head of the flat-earth society was and still is an avid neo-Darwinian. According to Natalie Wolchover, "The Flat Earth Society is an active organization currently led by a Virginian man named Daniel Shenton. Though Shenton believes in evolution..." (1) Can I use the head of the Flat Earth Society who believes in flat earth as much as he does in evolution to mock evolutionist? Yes, I could, but would it be fair? No. In fact, many intelligent people hold this view, and there are good reasons to believe in it. Now, if I held up this one person or others like him as the standard for those who believe in Neo-Darwinian evolution, then I am not better than this content creator. Will someone read this and quote a sermon they heard or even some source material as I did, but unlike me, use it as a blunt instrument to smash all Christians, much like this channel seems to do? Time will tell, but I see this typical pattern from channels like this one. There are good channels like Cosmic Skeptic that use sound arguments in these discussions, and it is to them I will spend most of my time with the youth group. Still, this channel provides a good resource for youth groups to consider when dealing with the low-hanging fruits of most online Athiest arguments. @@debunkingthefundamentalist Thanks for responding; as stated above, "Jonah's soul went to Sheol shortly after the event. Jonah reads as if he had died shortly after being taken by the sea creature." I also pointed out, shorty after he was taken, he prayed while in the belly of the whale, but he eventually died. After death his soul was in Sheol, the place of the dead. Also you quoted 2:1, but 1-2 reads this way. "Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish's belly. (just after being taken) And he said: "I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me. "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice." (Sometime later) (Jonah 2:1-2). I pointed this out in my thread, you missed it, but the issue may be that I did not stress this enough, I know most people believed he lived in the belly for 3 days, but many scholars disagree. So, when you said, "2:1 Kind of negates that entire theory above--DCF." This is true only if you do not read the very next verse where Jonah says, "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried." So as I see it, my case still stands. I do appreciate that you did not come back at me with a hateful comment, only a correcting statement. Thank you.

I have heard that debate before but would stand that if he died it would have said he died and we wouldn't have to interpret it. But it's a standstill and all Christians will always be allowed to comment. I suppose you would call me a Christian fundamentalist. I do not believe modern science. In my opinion, real science ended when Isaac Newton died. I have the audacity to tell you that your belief system is incorrect. I started to believe this when I was in high school. Our physics teacher was explaining Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity to us. He told us that a moving clock would be slower than a clock that was not moving. So to visualize this, I imagined a clock in a flying airplane. My father was a Navy pilot during World War II. For the clock that was not moving, I imagined a clock on the ground. It was immediately obvious to me that if the clock in the airplane was slower, the pilot in the airplane would get a faster speed for the airplane than an observer on the ground would get using a clock on the ground to time the flight of the airplane. Then I read Einstein's book on the subject. The first thing I noticed was that Einstein used equations showing that the pilot of the airplane and the observer on the ground would get the same speed for the airplane. I have pointed this out to scientists my entire life. They have called me every name in the book, said that I have no right to talk to them, and decided to ignore me, but they have never answered by original question, How do the pilot of the airplane and the observer on the ground get the same speed for the airplane if the clock in the airplane is slower. The correct answer is simple: They don't. That is something I call reality. So scientists seem to me to be the ones who have a cult. So if you want to save science as it exists today, just explain how the pilot of the airplane and the observer on the ground get the same speed for the airplane. I did not attack your beliefs. Believe whatever you want to believe. All I did was tell you what I believe.

Kinda sure you're bullshitting about the scientist's hostility toward you. Academics love to explain things. Also, they've done this experiment repeatedly. The Hafale-Keating experiment was the first, I think. But we're talking about airplanes, not sci-fi spaceships going .75c. The time dilation effect is so tiny that they need to use atomic clocks measuring minute fractions of a second to see a difference. But the difference is always there, precisely as predicted. No possible difference in the perception of "speed" would be detectable at those scales. If there even was one.

if a person is not able to proof all that crap which other people trying to sell them - they are lost in their own manipulated brainwashed little world....even so called intelligent people are not save from all that bs as we can recognize more and more. Character is missing mostly.

kinda like how you christians stand on sidewalks and insult people. kinda like how you use your fkd up beliefs to influence how you vote against civil rights. kinda like how you people go to indigenous cultures and infiltrate their way of life with your fkd up beliefs. kinda like how you people go to abortion clinics and call people murderers for a medical procedure. kinda like how you people force your bullshit on innocent children who have absolutely no concept of a god, which is child abuse. kinda like how you people want prayer in public schools that only prays to your particular god. kinda like how you flaunt your arrogance to people and threaten them with torture for eternity if they don't believe in your bullshit. kinda like how there's pretty much a church on every corner in every town in this country that don't pay taxes, but still insist on influencing the congregation to vote a particular way, which, btw, way is illegal. need i go on? your religion and your god has absolutely no place in the public square. keep your bullshit in your churches where it belongs.

That's correct. That is technically what it says. But a big fish would be a shark so most of us think it actually meant a whale which they wouldn't have known is a mammal--giant whale which generally would be able swallow whole vs a shark which would chew. That's even what they taught us as kids. But the story is ludicrous either way---DCF

This is like debating whether the Easter Bunny is really a rabbit or a hare. It's just a story.
