The comment about how it's ok to do projects for fun, but just be honest without yourself that it's for fun and don't try to justify it somehow, is extremely relatable. Even right now out of no where I decided to build a TinyPC out of the newest thin client style machine I could find that supports Windows XP just so I'd have a hardware solution to playing a couple games that have been annoying me to get to run on modern hardware. There's no practical use for the project, but for the ~150 bucks I'm spending all in for parts, tools, etc. it's worth it for the fun of building the project itself for me, much less playing my old games on it.

Great video! Love the footage the modded camera produces, and just seeing the test footage demo'd got me thinking of all the fun projects it'd be perfect for. I think I dig this look way more than the unmodded action cam, but that's also what's so cool about different cameras having different "looks". Would love to shoot on a modded action cam like this sometime!

Did this with a Yi 4k a few years back. It was a fun project, cost about as much as a roll of vision 3 and processing and it let me use my c-mount lenses for something again. It's not the easiest to use, focus is finicky, but it's cheaper and waaaay lighter than dragging a bolex around for my use case. Are there better cameras for the job? Yes. Am I glad I did it, absolutely.

Interesting to know there are possibilities such as this and the technical issues related as well. Also interesting to see the sensor used with other lenses though. I think I'll keep my One R as it is! Thanks for the video.

Hey Evan. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard about the origins of the word hacker. Originally the word referred to people who would modify any device, and contraption to make it operate outside specifications or do thing it wasn’t designed to do. They were hacking at it. You are a true hacker.

I agree with the last closing thought. Bought a Fujifilm XA3 from someone cause it would be my first fuji as well as it being broken so it was relatively cheap in local markets..... but i just really liked fixing up the lcd screen...
