I took a hybrid gray series head I used for marching snare and put it on my drum set snare and the sound is ridiculously perfect just the way I like it. If the head was used for 2 years for heavy hitting marching drummers I'm pretty sure my drum set playing won't ever harm this beast of a head! Cheers to EVANS

@TheDrummingAsian Thanks, the Hybrid coated is a thinner head designed for drumset use, and cannot support marching tension.

@bpaluzzi Hey man! Good to hear from you! In regards to the Hybrid S Black, I'm not exactly sure how it compares to the Marathon's (They are a little before my time!) But I can tell youthat it is the most open sounding Kevlar style head I have heard, and it's darn close to the sound of the modern mylar tops when tuned lower. Rhythm X used them for a section of their show this past year, you might want to check out a video or 2 of that. They actually used 4 different heads throughout the show!

Hybrid Grey Top and MX5 Yellow Bottom are the best sounding combination. Excellent heads. The best! :)

@bpaluzzi 4 sets of snares...36 drums. We bought 20 of them and sold them off individually! I drove back from finals with 18 snares in the back of my car!

I was expecting like a Remo White Max from the White Batter Side, but they feel so dead. I feel like they make it really hard to get a good snare sound. The coating on top makes it super dry.

The Hybrid Bottom Heads aren't wet but dry. They're just dry. Really dry.

Question. Is it ok to paint the head of a snare drum and put a finish on it so when you play it doesn't get on the stick head and then onto the snare head? Also is it ok to paint the snare sticks. Is that ok for the snare or will that be bad for the rims.

is kevlar better than the carbon fiber?

As far as painting a stick, I'd say just use colored electrical tape. The paint shouldn't do any harm to the rim, with the rims being painted themselves, if you wanted to go that route.

I think your confused as to the definition of a dry sound or how to tune a drum. Ive used ms3. hybrid snare side and mx5s and mybrid snare sides are by all means wet.
