I remember being a little girl who dreamed of being en pointe. I ended up in gymnastics growing up instead. At 19 now I still have that dream to learn to dance (for fun) and eventually make it to being en pointe. It’s encouraging seeing other adults in the comments getting them later in life. I don’t feel too old :)

Such an exciting moment. I did this last year at age 49. One of my classmates was even older, 54! I’m on pair 3 now, have had a different style/brand each time, and am pretty happy with my current pair (RP Brava). I have tried Capezio (first ever pair) and Bloch too. I have a chonky forefoot and toes and zero heel, have been barefoot a lot 😂.

Jamie is amazing. She was so welcoming to a beginner, not condescending at all. We want more people like her, and not just in the ballet world but everywhere. Brought my sewing machine to a repair shop last week and the lady was so condescending and elitist I hated her. Wish she could have been a Jamie.

It made me cry when you got on pointe. It’s so beautiful to see your dream come true. It’s also mine, I’m 23 and always lived in a country where it’s not an option for me. Yesterday I got the confirmation that I can move and although it’s so scary I really thought of the possibilities and how I can get adult lessons is one of the things that brings me more joy and comfort. It’s gonna be tough, working full time and trying to get ahead as an immigrant, but I don’t want to leave ballet behind. I hope I can somehow keep enough time and energy. I’m glad I watched this video today

This is so exciting! Your journey makes me want to do ballet again. As a kid, I hated the rights and I have the flattest feet in the world, so I could never do pointe. I loved dancing though, I just kinda fell out of it and into other things. This is so cool to watch you go through this! You’re never too old to try new things! You’re so cool :)

When I got my first pair I was 11 and I never wanted to take them off because it made me feel like a pretty ballerina. Now I can't wait to see the videos you make of you in your pointe shoes.

The part where she explained how the shoes you were wearing affected your feet really got me because when you first took off the tights to show her your feet, I thought “wow she as a really natural looking toe splay”. I was surprised. I’ve recently been learning about how most shoes force people’s feet and toes into very unnatural positions and cause a lot of issues over time. We’re naturally meant to have wider feet and toes that spread.

Hey, will you document your journey of going on point? That would be great to watch. I’m asking because I’m actually also training for going on point again. It’s so exciting. I’m already in the 40 plus club and recently got fitted for point shoes and I was so excited… I quit point when I was a teenager and came back to ballet during the pandemic. At the moment I’m still working on the basics but my dream is to do a simple choreography one day on point 😊

This is so cute Eva! I took ballet from 8-16 and I feel like I never had this much care and attention when getting fitted for pointe shoes. I kinda miss ballet and would go back for fitness classes I could find a studio that had them near me lol, but I do not miss pointe. I will never go back to that lol.

I started ballet at two years old although there were people all around me who were much older! I started pointe at 10 years old so I was quite young and had to be extremely careful when dancing so there are definitely some pros in starting ballet at an older age! 😊

I got my first pointe shoes at 40 for my bday last week(they were on sale for $30 Capezio Donatella)❣️ I plan on hanging them but watching this was very informative and soothing. Jamie should start a channel too

I was put on pointe way too early at age 7. I had been dancing since age 3 and had a relatively long career until age 45, but my feet are terribly deformed and painful. I now have to get injections in my feet for the rest of my life. They are surgically irreparable. DO NOT BE SO ANXIOUS TO GO IN POINTE UNTIL YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH PUBERTY AND YOUR FEET HAVE BEEN TRAINED PROPERLY. There are now "trainer" pointe shoes available to get your feet used to them (only for barre work, not center). I wish i c could add a photo of consequences of too early fittings and performance. ❤

I just got fitted a month ago! Let me warn you though…it does hurt the first couple of classes and is weird to walk in, but you will get used to it! Cant wait to see your progress and journey! We’re all here for you along the way! ❤

I’m just got fitted yesterday. I went through 8 pairs to find my perfect fit. They are Bloch but sadly the ones that I needed were not in stock. So the owner just order it so it should be here around Saturday-Wednesday next week! Then I’m gonna get fitted with them one more time. Then we go off to my ballet teacher we’re she sees if they are good and my fit. My first pointe class is in a month from now! Edit: 2 months later, I am doing really good, no bruises, blisters just sore muscles. I already doing center work to now, but only basics like bourree Edit: I’m a Suffolk girl now, Bloch was giving me hard time and they just weren’t good for me
