You know what I do, almost every time I'm in this situation? I burst out laughing. Almost every time. I just keep thinking about how awkward it is as we get closer and closer and closer and when they're about 5 feet away, I either break into a smile or start laughing with how awkward it is. I don't even care. At least I don't go on my phone.

Try to tell someone from gen Z they have an unhealthy relationship with their phone, most of them will freak out and call you a boomer, even when you're only 21 like myself. Newer generations of social media tend to be more addictive (with TikTok being the prime example). Zuckerberg is succesful because he knows how our brains work and he also has the power to create the technology to exploit that. Let's say i won't be the first one to hop in his metaverse ;). The weird thing about this video is even though it's satirical, I actually had this epiphany several years ago and really did decide to stop trying to salvage awkward encounters with strangers becoming reclusive (at least in public). You'll find that people aren't as villainous as you conceived in your head. Except maybe the younger generation who gets offended by everything. They might fuck you up.
