Her game was to feed pieces to Eve and let her believe she alone aquired them. Villanelle being one. Throughout the operation it became clear the more control Eve thought she had, the less she actually had. Just like the more volatile we thought Villanelle was, the more predictable she turned to be and gradually they hung themselves while Carolyn simply helped them along, prepared their nooses and kept her hands clean. She doesn't bring out the best in her subordinates/assets as much as she highlights and leverages their weaknesses. Konstantins was family which was exploited via carrot and stick arrangement while Eve and Villanelle's were each other in their joint obsession, naivety, impulsiveness, ignorance and egotism which rendered them predictable and short-sighted while Carolyn as the opponent was 5 steps ahead with their cards marked. I can't help think she wanted to teach Eve a lesson in hubris. Carolyn reflects the underhand tactics intelligence agencies undergo to takedown powerful civilian opponents. Villanelle got abandoned twice and Eve got played twice so between them it was game over. I don't think it would last 8 seasons. KE ain't Game of thrones. Lol.

Its uncertain how long the Twelve reach truly is. And it's never revealed what went on with Carolyn and Villanelle during that prison visit which was dreadfully swept under the carpet. Villanelle said it best. If she and Eve looked further up the chain of command they work for the same people. Carolyn reduced Konstantin to nothing less than a lame duck in the end sitting by and her fuck over his prodigy. When Eve went behind her back gave him the address of his Wife and Daughters safehouse she violate the first law of power. Never outshine the Master. And it didn't take much for her to be put in her place. Villanelle went against her masters wishes in showing off for the limelight and carrying out unnecessary kills that drew attention to her and the Twelve instead of staying in the shadows. By the time season 2 was over they were fed up of her shit and wanted her put to sleep for her hubris. When you strip down Eve, you see someone who spent her life living up to what she felt she had to be instead of what she chose to be. When you take away Villanelle's psychopathy you get a bully who is a little girl who never grew up and just happens to worship killing. But you're right. Its either they escape the institutions they work for or conquer them.
