My favorite role of hers was Sister Bertrille on the flying nun!

And to think that in 4+ years she made it all the way to "Norma Rae".

This series aired Fridays at 8:30 pm Eastern on NBC after Sanford and Son during the 1973-74 season. Despite that no one was very interested ( the series moved in mid season) and it was cancelled at seasons end. It's competition included THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN ( #11 for the season) on ABC and GOOD TIMES ( #17 ) on CBS. And later THE CBS FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIES ( #19).

Seeing this episode (Ms Arden is one of my favorite stars) is a treat and makes me think that had "the powers that be" been so inclined she could have done a HUGELY better job in the movie MAME...instead of Lucille Ball. Though I am not sure if she could have done more than equal Rosalind Russell in Auntie MAME. Definitely a great opportunity that was missed.
@terencedove5047 Жыл бұрын
Not only would she have done a more thoroughly studied job of assaying the role of MAME; but she also might have added a quirk or two that would have differed from Russell’s approach and wouldn’t seem silly or overacted. With Eve, either straight or musical role wouldn’t be an issue…

At 1:51 that is the house (across street from the 2 cabs) is where Sally filmed Gidget. It was also used as Hazel tv show as well....Right where John and Sally are standing...there is actually NO home there.

1:50 - 3:28 Yes, that's the oft-used suburban, residential street within the old Columbia Ranch, now called Warner Bros. Ranch Facilities on Hollywood Way in Burbank, a mile north of the main lot. What's rather strange is that the crew and cast went to all the trouble to move outdoors for this innocuous, brief scene -- and then didn't film Aunt Fran's departure as well exterior, back to back. Remaining indoors at the tag maintained this episode's claustrophobic feel, after the peek of the outdoors in the beginning. It was a disappointment. How exciting to hear Sally and John agree to midday making love, at fade-out. . . . Notes on two co-stars at mid episode: there's professional trumpet player and "Run, Buddy, Run" star Jack Sheldon being rebuffed by nail buffer Stephanie Edwards, New Year's Day Rose Parade co-host (with Bob Eubanks) for many, many years on KTLA Ch. 5, Los Angeles. Unfortunately for TV fans -- and admirers of Sheldon and Edwards -- that's an incidental-type scene, not vital to progression of the plot, that'll be clipped in most syndicated airings of "The Girl With Something Extra," to sell more commercial time of course. Which is unfortunate because it's a cute scene and the two bring it to life in their own ways.

Don’t remember this show at all but I do recognize the street. Spied the Bewitched house across the street so that means Gidgit’s house was across the street too.

Yeah they did an ok job of faking the chemistry. Sally was very low key. Eve Arden was timeless.

Guest star William Windom's hair. In the dozens and dozens of times we've been treated to Windom's fine dramatic and comedic acting in various movie and TV roles have we ever seen him with such a pronounced, ridiculous-looking comb-over? Unless this here is intentional, 1) how did Mrs. Windom let her husband go out the door to work like that? and 2) how did "The Girl With Something Extra" hair stylist and director let that comb-over get past them?
@howardkerr81744 жыл бұрын
You are forgetting that it was the 70s. And I have never seen a bald William Windom, so I don't think what you see is a "combover".

This show was a knockoff of Bewitched, which had just ended. I believe William Asher was the producer.
