+ClassicTophatGaming I'm just at the beginning of the video, and it seems he wastes unnecessary time on character creation which doesn't really teach the beginner anything. If he wastes time like that throughout the video, then it's understandably that long.

+Lukáš Dohnal He does say at the beginning though that it's basically flavor text with no effect on how you progress through EVE. For a complete newbie however I think it's an appropriate amount of time to spend on these things.

This is definitely a niche game that only a small sample of the gaming population can actually handle. No other game is as unforgiving and, as a result, no other game is as satisfying when you actually accomplish something, and no other game gets the heart racing quite as much when in PVP combat.

I think this game can be a good nomination for best game ever, just because of it's uniqueness.
@Hrafnskald

Actually Dota 2 is a lot more unforgiving. Random matches and group win/loss makes it much less friendly to newcomers.
@khaos1325
@khaos1325 10 жыл бұрын
Hrafn Skald But DOTA2 as any other mobas out there are not unique, there is no sense of real accomplishment and the gameplay definitely gets automated in the player so much lots of it gets old when you get experienced. EVE has the factor of never getting old, starting with the awesome outlook already, then going to the movement, the character development, the accomplishments, the community values, etc. The list can go on limitless, and still everyone would find his share of fun in it, because of the career possibilities are so different and you can always do new things and have a chance to succeed, be it combining of ingame skills or pure social skills in the use...

***** Look at it as more you are giving orders to a crew in where to plot a coarse and who/what to target as Scott has said before. Also it is only spreadsheets online if you go into industry and that will be changing with the next expansion. I think the key thing with eve is patience and knowing your boundaries of what you can and can't do, at your current skills. Like trying to run missions in a battleship with the same guns you had on your cruiser or when you have not trained the proper weapons for that size of a ship. If you have patience the world is yours in eve. even when you just have a frigate and a few guns on it with a warp scrambler you can kill things in low sec. Know that 14-21 days is not enough to experience the game and what you can do I am still doing and learning new things and I have been playing since 2010. In fact I have spent that last 2 days on with my corp moving into a new Wormhole deep in uncharted space. and I have yet to even experience nullsec to its fullest as most people consider it to be endgame. You will have more fun and more of a sense of accomplishment then with any other game especially in PVP the first few deaths will not compute when you come from a game like wow but then when you start to do better and learn how to do it no game will ever give you the same adrenalin rush as EVE. PVP, in win or loss you are putting something you worked for on the line. It is like the rush you get from racing down steep mountain road or going into a Fighter jet dog fight. Just remember never fly what you can't afford to lose, Good Hunting, And Fly Safe.

Scott Manley, I found your videos when I first picked up KSP back in beta and have loved your overly talkative style of tutorial. You always berate yourself for going on at length, but that's why I keep coming back. You don't just teach about mechanics, you explain your process and try to get us to think in a better way instead of just emulating what we say, so while you do sometimes go off on the wildest of tangents, I quite enjoy it. I was overjoyed when I picked up EVE and found that you had a tutorial series. Thanks.

You speak the truth my friend. I spent 8 years and tens of thousands of dollars on the game with multiple accounts to just give them all away because I no longer cared about the game. The game is always the same because it is always centered around PvP. Everyone only things about PvP and most corps can barely hold members if they do not have enough to keep the people happy. Along with the fact most of your RL friends will find the game either too hard or too boring; leaves you with 6 accounts.

Paying your Subscription is exactly like paying with real Money, you are a 100% authentic Subscriber to the Game with 0% Restrictions. Getting the ISK for PLEX can be a challenge at the start, it might take a Month or 2 to get decent skills up to earn the ISK to buy the PLEX with plenty to spare cash left for other purchases, but that would involve doing a small amount of Research into what to Train and when to Train it.

Over the years I've had the chance to play a good few mmo's, many of which friends and acquaintances have sold to me as being the "next best thing" just to find it to be as boring and tedious in the end as any other mmo. The ability to acquire assets in EVE is significantly less important to the ability to "win" (however you define that in a sandbox) than both your character's skills (which take time to train which you cannot avoid) and your own personal skill as a player, which nobody can buy.

Yeah for me, it took me about 6 hours to get to Jita from my home station because I used autopilot with a tayra.

Scott, the only ships that require Frigate skills above lvl 3 are the tech II variants.

Glad to see you doing real Eve stuff again. I love KSP, but Eve there isn't the real Eve.

Doesn't matter how much money you pour into a new account, you will not have any of the skills required to fly or even fit a high end ship. Account age is more important than money.

Rule #2: Go Caldari if you want easy, sustainable income. The Drake is easy to get into, easy to fit, and pretty much the BEST cheap mission running ship you can get until you get into Battleships or Battlecruisers. Haven't played Eve for more than a year or so, but they save your account... so if I decide to go back, I've got a couple billion ISK with which to buy a PLEX or two to get started. Always wanted to, just haven't had the time...

I really love the idea of eve and the visuals look amazing. Exploring space and it's possibilities. But I feel like it's too complicated! I'm debating on whether I should get this game but it just looks like too much if that makes any sense..
