It almost seems sacrilegious to say anything negative about E K, but rumor has it that was a notorious drinker, womanizer, and at times quite self diluded. I especially liked how careful he was at times to be politically correct, yet on another occasion he pummeled a reporter with a base ball bat. I think when he realized when he had some kind of power and status that he almost didn't have to appologize anymore for his behavior.

yes, he certainly did. He also had millions and millions of dollars and also put away trust funds for each of his kids so they would have money growing up. His son was a jumper too and had many crashes but had his father's nest egg to be able to flourish and do jumps. He also had a penchant for alcohol on occasion like his Dad but never drank to excess. Watch the Conan O'brien show with Robbie.

You lift the back wheel by hitting the front brake, you lower the front wheel by hitting the back brake. Two things Evel Knievel did not know.

Hitting the front brake? OMG.... another post of completely false info. In the air, you simply pull in the clutch and tap the rear brake, bike pivots nose down around the swingarm pivot. it's physics people and every motocrosser at every mx or sx track, nearly every lap uses this technique and has since the dawn of time.

Mech I used to make SPECTACULAR jumps on an OSSA. I came up a steep hillside to a flat area were another rider sat on his bike.his words"he was perfectly Vertical as he went over me about 20 feet in the air". How'd I land? Caress the front brake, centrifugal force shifting the front wheel forward.

The hard to swallow deal with Evel is that he takes himself so seriously, it's as if his motorcycle jumps are a similar achievement to curing cancer or putting a manned vehicle on Jupiter. It's entertainment dude. I doubt his words will be chiseled to marble because they are so vital to humanity continuing progress.
