I've been doing 130-140 just because it seemed to work pretty well. Good to know that it's actually a good practice.

Another lesser known tip: when landing try to land on a ledge to initiate a mantle animation. This will speed up the time it takes to be able to interact and pick things up by a second or two.

Mokey, I would suggest testing my method! I have crossed over 1200m using this: Dive to 145 Even Out to 135 Repeat The idea behind this is abusing momentum gained by the crux of the dive. You will travel much faster and virtually never feel slowdown as 145 increases velocity enough to transfer major diving velocity into flying velocity until you hit 135. This gives you more speed to 'fly straight,' with more consistency, and inherently takes you much much further. I've impressed many ranked teams landing in normally impossible to reach POIs. The idea is the same as you suggested, but you should angle yourself further & use that speed to fly faster & reduce velocity drops. Cheers, hope you see this

Most annoying thing is when 2 random teammates ping a location you flew over 100m ago, and sky dive backwards to get to a point where everyone is already kitted

i disagree with the other guy saying they should've showed this in training mode. when i started playing apex i was horrible (generally in fps), but this was one of the first things i managed to find out myself, just by trying it out and seeing how i could improve.

Honestly this is something I learned in fortnite during the first 3 seasons when it was good. My aim in apex isn't the best but I can usually land first wherever I'm going

Each map has a different dropship height though. I wish there is an additional element to the HUD showing your pitch when you're dropping.

For my flowchart as jumpmaster, 1) I open the map immediately 2) pick/mark a location to drop 3) draw an imaginary 45 degree line to drop ship path and estimate distance to drop ship path/line 4a) if distance is less than 450m, I drop at 450, straight 4b) if distance is greater than 450m, but less than 600, I drop at 45 degrees, straight. 4c) if distance is greater than 600m, but less than 1km, I drop at 45 degress dipping and diving between 140 and 146.6 speed until i can look at mark straight at speed of 146.6 note: Only my rules of 450m and 146.6 speed line up with yours, so all my other numbers are anecdotal and could not be optimal

I always knew the sweet spot for the drop ship is at 450m for some intuitive reason, glad to know my intuition was correct lol

when do you generally want to drop if the ship is not in the path of your poi? i know that distances can vary so thats why im asking for a time rather than an exact distance. for example, on storm point, ship pattern is straight west to east through the middle and you want to go fish farms.

As a solo queuer most of the time, I had more or less gotten all this info down reflexively since I've had so much practice as jumpmaster as a result of randoms not wanting to be jumpmaster 90% of the time. Heck yeah, I knew all of this already somehow just by playing the game! I always get annoyed when my jumpmaster teammate would unnecessarily dip&dive when you can just go straight towards the location.

Remember in S1 you could dive to 150+ and pull up on the stick to actually GAIN a small amount of height while dropping.

the last rule is wrong. It depents on the map/dropship hight. When dropping like that you just want to have a constant speed of 149.6-149.9

I saw people doing that motion when dropping and I was like "monkey see monkey do" cause i figured it probably has somethin to do with the drop speed so thanks for the details now i can even die faster when i hit the ground.

What about the dipping angle when it comes to max distance? (Lets assume that the best limit numbers are 130-140) Does it not matter whether A. When you slow down to 130 you look straight down quick and the moment you reach 140 you yank it up to horizontal and repeat, or B. When you slow down to 130 you quickly dip it just enough where it starts slowly accelerating and stay there till 140 and the pull it up gently to horizontal and repeat.. ?

I'm still a little lost on the second one. I understand the second part of don't dip if you're racing a team and you guys can reach 146.6 but what did he mean at the start? "That's the velocity where you keep your speed and accelerate or you slow down"?

No one thing from this went into my head. Its like when people used to say stuff about speeds in the gauntlet in Titanfall 2.

Along these same dropship/maximum distance lines, can you do a vid mentioning the incredible Valk ult spot on Storm Point on top of Command Center? If you take the long zip line up to the top of Command Center and instead of taking the southward gravity cannon, Valk ult from that spot, it's possible to reach the backside of Antenna, almost 1200 meters away (basically as far as the maximum distance you can get out of the dropship).

Little tips for yall, if you want to drop somewhere far, make sure you drop and look up as you can and when velocity touch to 129 or lower, you look down a little bit and it increased velocity little bit fast without going down fast and you can go far down to the place you want to go.

135 - 145 has been my go to. Didnt know that 450m was the minumum for dipping.

I didn't play apex for long, but while i did my strategy was: Launch immediately, aim at building. DIVE DIVE DIVE DIVE.

for close distance, i just go 149 or 150, depending on the angle where i want to drop. if the place i want to drop is 30-60 degree from the ship, then i go for 139-144. for long distance, just pay attention to the speed bar and glide your way to the furthest part of the map (45 degree downward to gain speed, look straight when speed is not rising anymore to travel)

Omg yes please my teammates never get it. And it's painful when they always drop early when the ship is heading in the same direction or when they dip even when the target isn't that far.

i found some sort of a op bug but you need trashy internet it only happens randomly and not guarranteed, so when im gonna dive in for some reason it tps me to the ground and land faster than everyone

I rarely ever jump, but I always use around 125-140 drop speed and around 400m radius thing just by feeling. I am amazed at how close I am to the perfect numbers.

I can confirm, I am an apex veteran and I've been doing this wrong.

I can dip dive across the whole map. I personally use 145 - 130. What I wanna know is how players fall faster than others... Skydiving straight down to a hot drop, everyone is stuck at the same speed. Although I've seen on numerous occasions one squad is going twice our speed, and hits the ground a good 3-8 seconds before everyone else, who dove straight down.

Buddy taught me to drop to 132 and go back up to 142 repeatedly. This is what I've used since season 2 and its never failed me.

I don't get how people doesn't know this at diamond+. I'm seeing people that want to land almost straight below the dropship but fly like they have to manage a 1000m flight. They really think it makes you faster in general.

I discovered dip&dive in season 1. To this day never seen anyone use it

they should just call you jump leader until you master this, then you ate promoted to jumpmaster, but people will probably fight over that before the game even starts

I would also love to know if there is a method of triangulation or something when you trying to drop somewhere that's off the path of the dropship and you want to drop there first. Like for example on Storm Point if you get the cut across dropship from east to west and you want to be on Barometer the fastest, without losing time staying in the dropship until it's a perfect 90 degree angle but not too soon not to lose out on the dropship boost, I dunno if I can explain it any better

Because at 145 you get yourself straight flat for distance, 140 i dip back to 145 and do over and over 1200 meters+
