Once again I know there are a ton more than I included in this video but it's a start. Have you ever found a bottle of Single Malt or Blended Malt Scotch Whisky and not known what distillery the whisky was from? I know I have been stumped in the past by the secret names, or trade names, of Scotch Whisky. If you do some digging though you can find out exactly what distillery many of these whiskies with secret names come from. Some of them even come from some of the most popular single malt Scotch Whisky distilleries out there. I hope you enjoy this list featuring some of the secret names of Scotch Whisky. Matt these are great nerdy backstories that tickle my fancy. Thanks for putting these together. A new Islay DISTILLERY coming on to the scene is Laggan Bay from Ian Macleod (Glengoyne/Rosebank/Smokehead/Tamdhu) so I wonder if Laggan Mill name will have to change....it's different but you know.......if someone wanted to build a distillery or name a whisky Lardleg there might be an existential crisis and some hellfire from somewhere.

That's a really interesting point Watchman! I had taken stock of the announcement that Laggan Bay was a go, but this never connected. We could very well be at the end of Laggan Mill releases. And honestly, with Diageo allegedly cutting off most supplies of Caol Ila to Indies I don't know how many casks of Lagavulin will make their way to market in the future. Cheers buddy 🥃

Hey Matt. Very fun and informative video! I got Bladnoch wrong and guessed (rightly, it turns out) on the Glenfiddich/Balvanie ones. I really liked the history you went into on each. Cheers!

@@whiskyonthewestcoast Oops, it was Hector not Hamish 😁 In 2020 when there were extra tariffs on single malt in the US K&L Wine in California brought in a bunch of Tea-spooned malts to avoid the extra taxes. Below Bhaninidn (Mortlach) Cromarty's Firth (Dalmore) Behind the Highlander (Craigellachie)

Just heard of the second version of Ardbeg Smoketrails Travell Exckusive finished in Cote Rotie wine casks. Has not shown up at LHR yet.

After how strong the 1st Manzanilla Smoketrails was, I'd be willing to take a shot on it. Ardbeg special/travel releases are still on probation in my books 😅. Cheers Dileep 🥃

I haven't seen the Whisky Sponge "Red Bag" but I did pick up a 14yo Whisky Sponge "Kildalton" not too long ago as the price wasn't...too terrible XD That NAS 30yo from Angus has really turned me onto Whisky Sponge and even if the price seems a little madder than other independent bottlers, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that the quality of his picks will make up for it. For now, at least =)

I'm sure the Kildalton is a great bottle of barley juice. I've been tempted by that Whisky Sponge Bowmore you picked up as well. I know I've got to hold my water at some point and stop leaking dollars but I would be lying if I didn't try for the Whisky Sponge Candle Kitty earlier this week. From the 2 tastings I've participated in from decadent drinks/whisky sponge I'm willing to trust a bit more than others as well. Kudos to 🥃 🧽 Cheers buddy 🥃
