I mean when you average 59 yards a punt, yeah you're going to stun some people... AJ Cole is absolutely an Unreal punter.

Their field goal kicker also has the longest active field goal streak in the league. Close to beating the all time most consecutive field goals. Raiders's special teams are truly special.

The best part is that it's the NET punting average. They kick from 13-15 yards behind the line of scrimmage, so some of these kicks are going 70+ yards. Amazing!

That's not how you calculate net punting yards. Net punting is the distance of the kick minus the yards the returner gained.

@@valdivia1234567 yes, the distance of the kick is measured from the LoS. That is punt yards. Net punt yards is distance of the kick minus return yards gained.

I’m old enough to remember the first boomer punter; Ray Guy who also played for the Raiders and could punt the ball 70-80 yards. The Dallas Cowboys never seemed to understand for the longest time how important a good punter is to the team. Used to drive me nuts. They had a punter that couldn’t kick the ball thirty yards so the other team only had to go fifty yards or less to score.

Me as well. I still remember the game where Ray went up and somehow caught that ball and then came down and still crushed it. Pretty impressive play. Still some don't seem to remember that Ray played Defensive Back at Southern Miss and still holds the season record for interceptions in a season with 8. He also held the record for the longest field goal at the school for a long time at 61 yards until it was broken recently. Man was a real athlete. 50 years later and still some of his college records are still standing.

You ever notice that a lot of bad teams have good punters? It's usually because they get a lot of playing time and thus experience, if you know what I mean. When you're a punter, the only person that gets excited to see you play is your mother. No, sorry- dad ain't happy about it like everyone else.

My son(TE/DE) punted for his High School team. His average was 45' putting many of those punts inside the 15 yard line. In one game, backed up deep, he canned (2) 65 yard punts, each stopping inside the 10. He played DE in college.

Shades of Ray Guy. I had the pleasure of being at Southern Miss when Ray Guy played there. We beat Archie Manning at Ole Missl when they were number 4 in the country. 30-14 Ray Guy had the greatest game. He also played safety and intercepted a pass. Great Memories. Charley
