I made it to Base Camp! The grand finale of my Everest Base Camp Trek Day 8 is by far the best video I’ve produced of the trip. From Lobuche we continued the trek over to Gorakshep. After dropping off some unrequired hiking gear we walked further and finally made it to Everest Base Camp. Getting up close to the Khumbu Ice Fall was one of the highlights of Base Camp. Huge ice walls and rocks peppered the surface of the glacier. The following day we woke up before sunrise and made our way on the trek to Kala Patthar, which is where I’ve laid my Aunty’s photograph to rest.

Brother you did the right thing by turning back. I was in a similar situation in Peru. They drove us up to a glacier that was at 17,000ft. They drove us up to 16,000ft. I walked halfway up and turned around I was so sick. My fingernails were a light blue color. Everything was in slow motion. My stomach was upset. It's better to be safe than sorry. Nice video great views. Good job.

Your series on EBC was amazing. I am going with my son this November. I am double your age and was hoping to get up Kala Pattar but after seeing this think I may have to stay in Gorak Shep that morning. Congratulations on sharing your emotional journey. We scattered my father's ashes in the mountains as was his wish and then more recently my mother's so your video brought back many bittersweet memories

Really glad to see this video on here, I just binge-watched your whole trip. I watched it before my first trip to EBC and learnt a lot from your experience. Hoping you get to do some more of this, the 3 high passes would make an amazing series. I was doing it in March 2022 and got a chest infection after the Kongma La pass so it's still there waiting for me! Cheers!

Thank you for sharing your “experience’s”. From being a 10 year old in 1957 I have had a goal-and- desire to summit Everest, alas it is not to be in the flesh . However because of “you and other like minded people “ wishing to share their experiences through this medium , I feel I have now been in spirit . Anti Linder will always be with you.

Peace ✌️ and love 💗 from the paradise island 🌴 of Mauritius 🇲🇺. I did the Annapurna circuit back in 2018 and it was a very emotional moment for me as well when crossing the Thorong La pass and the loss of loved ones accompanied me every step of the way , my mom and dad’s spirit carried me all the way to the top . They gave me angels 👼 wings .

Dear Russell, Just viewed your episode for the second time after finishing the EBC trek myself mid November 2019. It was even more moving to see than the first time now knowing what it takes to climb especially Kala Patthar. Your video made sure I ate plenty the evening before (not that I ever lost my apetite during the whole trek 🤞😉) and had that pair of dry socks for this extremely cold morning, we heard it was -15C°... The exhaustion of 8 days trekking and then this climb together with the memory of my dad who passed away in 2013 and loved the mountains made it a tough morning. Looking at your video now, I think I stopped more or less the same location. That was my top, views were not going to change any more and a perfect place to build my stoneman and add and extra stone for my dad to it... Thank you for sharing your journeys, emotions (and usefull tips 😊). Keep on travelling and hopefully sharing! All the best from The Netherlands; Carlyn!

Hi James. Thank you so much for your kind words and I send my condolences for your mother and father, but what an incredible place to scatter their ashes. As for Kala Patthar, you can see the summit of Everest from about a 3rd of the way up so no, you don’t need to go the whole way. Try to get a goodnight’s sleep if you can and eat plenty before you head out. I struggled the night before and didn’t have enough to eat so the cold and altitude really kicked me in the butt. Thanks for watching, it’s an incredibly trip and I hope it offers you everything you ever dreamed of. Any more questions, do let me know. 👍

Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed the video on an emotional level. Hmm first you need to figure out when you would like to. Spring and Autumn are the most popular times of year. But you can go all year round. Watch my video on best times of year. That would be a good place to start. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b5Nxoa-b16qWh6M.html

Ahh haha I don’t know any other Strudwick’s so maybe there’s a relation! I’ll ask my uncle. Nice one man, good luck on the trip. You’ll love it.

The Trail Hunter cheers, going with my brother and planning on doing similar things as what you did with your aunt’s photo for our other brother who died in 1992. Just love the idea of them getting a view to such an epic location 🤟🏼
