Join us on an unforgettable adventure to Bolivia's stunning Salar de Uyuni, one of the most iconic destinations for overlanders. Over five incredible days, we explored this expansive salt flat in our expedition truck, uncovering its unique beauty and challenges.
Camping on the salt flats was like stepping into another world. Surrounded by 11,000 square kilometers of pure white salt, we slept under a sky filled with stars, enveloped in complete silence-no insects, no dogs, not even a rustling leaf. It was an experience of unparalleled tranquility and wonder.
Driving across the salt flats, we covered hundreds of kilometers in a landscape that felt endless yet captivating. We discovered islands covered in ancient, fossilized coral, remnants of a time when these flats were part of a vast ocean. Each moment brought a new sense of awe and amazement.
Kara added to the excitement by zipping around on her trusty scooter, bringing a fun and dynamic element to our exploration. Whether she was chasing me or just enjoying the ride, the scooter made our journey even more memorable.
But this beautiful, stark environment also demands caution. The intense sunlight reflecting off the salt can lead to severe sunburn and even snow blindness-sunglasses and sunscreen are essential. At night, temperatures can plummet to -11°C, so having a reliable heater is crucial for staying warm.
Come along with us as we delve into the wonders of Salar de Uyuni. From starlit nights and ancient coral islands to the thrill of scooter rides across the flats, our journey showcases the extraordinary beauty and solitude of overland travel in one of the most unique places on Earth.

@JohnS-zq8ks No, I popped off the fuel inlet and injected it in as if it was fuel, 3 or 4 pulses a minute apart, this cleans the soot and carbon off of the atomizer screen. It'll cough out some black flakes for a bit too.

That's a cool place with a surprising variety of stuff to see and do. Interesting how the islands sort of feel like islands. Are the ridges in the salt uncomfortable to drive over? I like how Scooty Puff is becoming a regular character. I picked up one about a year ago and I've put 1000 miles on it, which equates to about $4 in electricity. They're a lot of fun.

Hi , Ive been following you guys on/off for a number of years now . gotta a quick question , ie tires . You've been on conti's the whole time , is this from complete choice ? ie you like them b'cause of overall performance & needs met ? or is your set-up specific for those tires , ie wheels etc. TIA for your input. I'm on 2nd set of G275's GY and have heard Conti is upgrading their speed rating and rubber compound , but haven't come across any 1st hand experience yet. In Alaska now but will need new tires by end of Sept. Safe Travels ~peace~ PS Thanks as always for your great Vids ♥

It's the legacy of a prehistoric lake that went dry, leaving behind a desertlike, nearly 11,000-sq.- km. landscape of bright-white salt, rock formations and cacti-studded islands. Its otherworldly expanse can be observed from central lncahuasi lsland. Though wildlife is rare in this unique ecosystem, it harbors many pink flamingos. -Google

@@Everlanders no I get that. And your rig is truly epic! I just meant something electric that could move the rig instead of its primary engine. I understand motors are not cheep, not light weight, and not conservative on power, and they aren't plug and play. But then again, it's your house. So if you were to experience another fuel shortage, you wouldn't be stranded far from home. I think it's very cool people were willing to sell you gas while experience a shortage themselves.
@Everlanders
@Everlanders 16 күн бұрын
I wouldn't consider it, at 700Wh/Km to move this 7 ton unit, it would completely darin our 11.5Kwh of batteries in 15.71 km or 9.76 miles... Not worth the expense and weight of carrying it halfway around the globe.
