I googled "Everspace 2 console" and the first result is from the first games Wiki that says "A sequel, Everspace 2 is set to be released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. It is set to be released on Steam's early access on December 2020, with the game's full release scheduled to be released in 2021." However I went back and watched the initial announcement trailer and checked the Kickstarter and it says Xbox, Playstation, and Steam. Safe to say Early Access for PC in 2020 with a simultaneous Playstation and Xbox launch down the line when it is 1.0.

Remember that they're also game devs, not necessarily great gamers themselves. They want to show off more of a "tech demo" to show you some of the stuff you can see in the game, not spending tons of time playing the game and recording everything in the hopes of "something cool" happening: much easier to just make a fake level and force a specific "something cool" to happen. This is in no way a put-down on game devs, just... Devs always seem to be surprised at the shenanigans that players get up to, once the game is released "into the wild" so to speak. They're so used to working with all the stuff behind the scenes that they don't always have time to step back and just "watch" the game play out, in it's entirety, to see the true majesty they've managed to put together.

OniFeez yep they are both single player games that have a great story line. The first game is a rogue lite but still has a story. This second game is going to be an open world rpg with an even deeper focus on the story

Koncrete Monki the controls are staying true to the first game and focusing on the arcade aspect. That is, fast paced and easy to pick up just like Freelancer. And they always had a cockpit, even in the first game.

Th0r0 Shvener the level designs look plenty different to me. Especially with the planetary locations. What were you personally expecting?

@@HazzyDevil most of the trailer felt familiar to me, the destroyed station top left at 0:23 reminds me of those levels in the original with mines sprinkled all over it which you have to carefully navigate, the asteroid station at 0:55 is like the original ones where you had to destroy a few turrets and find some loot at its center, starting from 1:00 i can see some new levels, and the part where it says "Rockfish presents" is completely new! I'd love to see more surface levels like those.

Th0r0 Shvener don’t see anything wrong with that. Having some consistency by showing things from the first game gives a sense of familiarity and acknowledgement that it’s set in the same universe.

It's a cool song but the one with the trailer is more exciting.

There will be endgame content in the form of the Ancient Rifts, which is basically roguelike dungeons to get high tier loot.

The Bad Guys id be happy for coop but I’d rather the game focus on the single player narrative than go for a fully blown multiplayer experience

The Bad Guys the first one is a rogue lite so it might not be for all as the gameplay in rogue lites tend to be repetitive. But it’s still great nonetheless

PastaBoinrich ummm okay? The first game is a complete game. This game has only shown the first two systems so far. And the fidelity in this game is going to be a lot higher. Especially with some rtx features.

This isn't a sim, MMO or a building/crafting game. The only thing Everspace has in common with the games you're probably thinking of is the setting.

@@seyeruoynepotsuj Strictly single player game. Your ship is customizable, but it's mostly pure action and similar to the first game in this regard. You rarely get a breather in the first game because the pirates constantly chase you. In this one there might be some down time for upgrading and doing quests.

It's not a lesser version of Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous because it's not trying to be those games in the first place. It's like trying to compare Skyrim and WoW just because they're both fantasy games.

The visuals are great but the game doesn't seem to have much personality right now. And yet, it raised almost $600k on Kickstarter so I guess some people see something in it.

News flash, because it’s not trying to be a simulator. And anyways there’s an option to turn off the inertia dampeners if you really need to have it fly more realistically.
