I am a boro fan, and we had points deducted that led to us being relegated from the premier league once long ago - for not being able to field a team. Had we sent out eleven sixteen year olds and been thrashed, we would have stayed up. The problem is there is a two tier system almost, some clubs are literally getting away with financial misconduct, and others are getting routinely punished. What we do need is consistency.

You don't think it might take longer to investigate 115 infractions as opposed to 1? They're separate cases, if found guilty both should be punished.

I agree with what you have said but I think someone needs to be in place. Not sure what though. I’m a Newcastle fan and really enjoying what we are doing at the moment and how we are building. I fear without FFP we would have naymar ronaldo and Benzema but front and our team would team spirit would be ruined. Even if we won’t the league with all them we would never have respect from other fans and it would feel hollow.

The Super League proposal was just that though. It didn't happen. Everton breached rules that were set in stone and they're fortunate it has taken until now to hit them, had it been last season they'd have been relegated. They won't go down as the promoted teams are weak this season, plus the likes of Fulham are worse. I'd take this punishment and move on if I were them, a transfer embargo would probably be worse. I agree about MC though, the teams who have finished 2nd this past few years deserve the titles should they be found guilty but not much joy to be had when they couldn't celebrate.

Everton won't get relegated. I expect two things to happen between now and May. Firstly Everton need to simply score four more points than the bottom three do between now and the end of the season and, on current form, that looks easily achievable. And second, the fact there has been pretty much universal criticism of the decision suggests pressure will grow on the Premier League to reduce the penalty on appeal to perhaps 6.

You can spend as much as you like on the stadium or training facilities because they go towards generating revenue, which helps in making you more sustainable. If you mean lying to the EPL as working with the EPL then you are correct. Everton have been telling the EPL they have stayed within the loss limits from the beginning of this saga. If Everton have been working with the EPL then why did the EPL ask for a 12 points deduction? The moment Everton got before the independent commission they admitted they broke the rules and not because of stadium costs. When they signed players to get them to come they paid wages they couldn't afford. They have been trying to get players off the books because they were paying them too much. They knew this from the moment they signed them but hoped they would qualify for Europe and get the extra revenue to cover the cost a gamble that failed. If this had been the EFL rather than the EPL then Everton would have received the sanction two years ago as well as a transfer embargo. As it is with their repeated lies they have been able to avoid the inevitable for two full seasons. Seasons in which if the points deduction would have taken place they would have been relegated. As it is with the poor quality of the teams at the bottom of the table they will probably avoid relegation. The rules were changed in the Summer because of the delaying tactics of Everton and Man City so that cases in future will be heard promptly. It appears that after all the lies Everton supporters have been told by their owners for years there are still some (like you) who are willing to still believe what they are told by the club. As it now is Burnley, Leicester and Leeds after Everton's admission before the tribunal are now progressing their claim for £100 million each through the courts. If they are successful then once again Everton will fail the sustainability test but the next time there will be no delay and the teams at the bottom of the league will probably be of a higher quality than those that are there now. Somewhat ironically if those claims are successful then Everton will be helping those three clubs to pass the sustainability rules quite comfortably as any compensation will be regarded as revenue.

There's zero chance that City get convicted of anything. Big clubs have the league in a stranglehold. Look at their threat to join the European Super League; there was a fine of £22m split between the 6 clubs, no points deduction no nothing. And FFP rules were designed by the big clubs, for the big clubs; to date only QPR and Everton have been truly screwed over by it. Meanwhile Everton get a 10-point deduction for an overspend of only £20m.
