The 2001-2003 lego Harry Potter figures really have a charm to them! Their faces have a more exaggerated cartoonish expression that gives the figures personality, which is why I don’t think they quite worked when they put it on the fleshed toned heads Thanks for sharing this collection!

Great overview video of what I think were the best years of Lego Harry Potter! The uncanny valley effect that switching to flesh toned figures added was a total deal breaker for me. The figures that you were pointing out (maybe except Malfoy from Chamber of Secrets) that didn't have a costume counterpart in the movies are the way they are because they simply weren't based on the movies, as the first one had yet to finish filming and editing when the first 2001 HP sets were designed! This is why the first year of HP sets are dear to me; they were re-imaginations of scenes from the book, not just recreations of scenes from a movie. The approach to the designs in the 2001 HP sets just showed off a sense of imagination and wonder that was lost as the franchise moved towards the goal of total screen accuracy, in my opinion. I have the whole Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone collection on display with some of the following year's Chamber of Secrets sets as well. Truly an awesome and underappreciated era for Lego!

I think the blue shirt Harry is meant to be his outfit he wears on the night bus because all the other night bus sets have Harry minifigures with very similar outfits

Early 2000's Lego is my jaaaaaaaaam! Love all of these, and actually own most of 'em too! Lucky enough to have bought that olive green torso off a friend (when I was a kid and had friends) for only a buck - still got it to this day, with no cracks thankfully ;D

Great video, I really appreciate you going over all the old (best) themes and figures. Like you said I do think there is something special that comes from the old figures, its just such a nice style that is uniquely lego, and it certainly carries through on these figs. Of course I have to mention Lockhart, such a nice figure, and the accuracy is pretty great. I currently only have the sand red parts to him but I def wanna change that in the future.

Old lego Snape caused so much confusion for me as an adult. I didn't grow up with Harry Potter due to my mom being very religious so my only exposure was through the lego catalogue. In 2016, me and my friends watched all the films on blue ray, which was my first watching of them, and when we were watching Order of the Phoenix I asked if Snape was ever going to glow. My friends were really confused

I love the early days of licensed Lego themes and how they gave the figures all distinct styles. The faces in Harry Potter looks different to Star Wars, NBA, etc. It’s nice that nowadays everything adheres to the same style more or less, but it gave every IP a more unique charm that we don’t see as much now.

I think all the "sweater" versions of Harry, Ron and Hermione are supposed to from Chamber of Secrets when they are at Diagon Alley and meet Lockhart. In that scene Hermione is wearing a blue sweater under her cloak. Harry is wearing a dark green sweater under his cloak. And Ron is wearing a Red sweater under his cloak (this makes his minifigure the furthest from the actual on screen outfit). Perhaps Lego was working off of concept art for those minifigures and the final costumes for the movies were changed.

Have you ever posted instructions on how to create those awesome minifigure stands? And, I see in your videos that the capes have been scraped(?) on the edges to make them look more like fabric. Is that something you do intentionally, or have you bought them that way over the years? Do you purchase multiple of each minifigure, and if so, do you keep one mint and distress the others?

I have a question about these old Harry Potter minifigures i noticed they don’t have Lego logos under the feet? But instead you can found them inside the waist . Is that normal ? Just want to know thanks

It's a very strange feeling to see you discuss the minifigures that were, for a while, part of the only Lego sets I had. Now I'm a basic bitch and just very recently got into Star Wars Lego, lol.
