I read this post, and it was actually pretty good. for the ww2 section, it does have a few major problems you have to consider 1. For a lot of US and UK aircraft, they are straight up running on the wrong engine settings. Perfect examples of this are the Griffon Spitfires, which should all be running 22 inches of manifold pressure instead of 18, giving them the same engine performance as the current Mk 24, which should be running 25. Same goes for the Bearcat and Tigercat, which are currently running 100/130 octane fuel rather then the 115/145 they ran exclusively. Another good example are the P-51D-5/20, which should be running the engine settings of the D-10, rather then the settings they used to cross the Atlantic. Another example is the P-38L, which is currently 100/130 fuel rather then the 150 it ran exclusively historically. 2. For a lot of German aircraft, their BR is determined by the actual production aircraft while their performance is determined by prototypes. Perfect example Being the K-4, which has engine settings in game based off of a prototype flown in march 1945 using C-3 fuel. 3. For a lot of US aircraft, they are for some reason minor production changes rather then the major blocks. Good examples are the P-47D-22-RE, which has a different water injection button on the throttle and a hydraulic rather then electric propeller hub. The last major razorback upgrade was the P-47D-5, which came off the production line in September 1942.

The 1938 Spitfire is going to be running on low octane gas, so it's going to have a good bit less horsepower than the Battle of Britain bird. And until around 1940 it was using a two blade fixed pitch propeller. So the Spitfire Mk Ia in 1938 is a very far cry from the same plane in 1940. That was one of the things about the engine wars: the gas improvements meant that you could effectively upgrade planes in place, just by retuning the engines and using new fuels.

I hope they bring back the realistic line up events. Like the Pearl Harbor event which has f4fs vs a6ms. It was tough for us but I enjoyed it regardless. It also insecticides people to get planes from other tech trees.

The worst uptiered plane would probably be the Q-5L, which is a ground attack platform from *2002* which in-game fights 1950s jets. To be fair though, the Q-5 in War Thunder is missing a _significant_ amount of it's armament, including _all_ of it's missile and countermeasure options in real life. It'd fit a lot more against modern planes if it actually had it's modern year 2000 equipment.

Not only should the BR be based on production year, or more speciffically on the year the airplanes were introduced, but the uptier limit for each aircraft should be set depending on the year it was retired.

I know it’s breaks a lot of things but I do love some of the br decompression in some areas. I kind of wish it went by decades. 1930’s, 1940’s, 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s to modern. Still has plenty of problems and doesn’t work for naval but atleast decades instead of years gives more wiggle room. I just want more split between technology so that certain tiers have more flavor again or just time before their counters. Would give heavy tanks, early Jets, and late props some better chances

I agree with America's placement at A-tier for WW2, but for different reasons. I think you're sleeping on WW2 American aircraft. Sure, the image makes them SEEM like they're fucked over, but Gaijin decides BR by player stats and the only thing worse than a German Main is an America Main.

A Pe-8 at 2.0 should be evidence enough. Imagine just starting the game, and your team is wiped out cause a Pe-8 is flying around uncontested the entire match.

It's a shame that mechanics like "random transmission explosion", "fuel shortage", and "pilot liquification" aren't modelled in game. Their absence gives germany an ahistoric edge

I believe British trees are just challenging making them a perfect nation to play if u wanna be competitive and sweaty player (and improves yo skill with trial and error)

the only complaint i have really, is the pain that was caused when you got to postwar france and showed a RAF Hunter

I've hosted custom battles with my discord server that use historically accurate time frames. It's fairly unbalanced but I also simulate logistics on each side as well so inferior Soviet and American equipment is more numerous. I also did a cold war scenario which ended up being quite unbalanced as well. Fulda gap soviet rush with BMP-1s and T-64/72s against leopard and M60 defenders.

It pains me how horribly underserved a lot of the British aircraft are in terms of how they perform in game compared to their irl counterparts

i would argue that with those 20mm i16s that they “exist” strictly because they had 1 or 2 in russia. the i16 that did see combat extensively was the 2 machine gun varient. the 4 or the 20mm variants were mostly experimental and didn’t truly see combat

That would be quite an interesting tree for a Co-op-PvE Enduring Confrontation/Conflicts of the World mode with weekly rotation. But we all know we won't ever get this. PvE is Gaijin's kryptonite.

hmmm i think the soviets fare quiete well as the mig 21 was facing the phantom jets wich dominated the americans hard. yes the top tier stuff is a little outdated but planes like the mig 29 and yak 141, has 0 problem fighting the f16 and f14.
