In comparison to your mammoth reads, my recommendation might feel minuscule, but my favorite read of the month was Zadie Smith’s Intimations. This is a collection of six or so essays written at the beginning of the pandemic from Zadie’s perspective as she grapples with the drastically shifting tides. It lived up to its namesake, it was intimate and lovely and welcoming and reflective; I didn’t think I had any interest in reading about the pandemic (this may be the only exception), but her masterful use of language made me feel understood in a way I haven’t by many books recently. I would certainly recommend to anyone!

For manga that I think you would enjoy, I HIGHLY recommend Witch Hat Atelier! It follows a young girl named Coco who's dream is to become a witch and is introduced to the world of magic. The artwork is STUNNING and I think you would really enjoy it. I also recommend Blue Period (which is about a boy who's love for art is awakened), Yona of the Dawn (an insanely good historical fantasy/romance), Blue Flag (follows four friends in their last year of high school and has a love quadrangle including queer characters) and Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You.

It's got so many footnotes that are just stories or myths or the origins of phrases, tiny snippets of this made up history and world. :) My favourite read of the month was the Viriconium sequence by M. The Maidens was just ridiculous! When she was scaling a wall and running around in the forrest, hiding behind trees to spy on this and that person….. did not know if I should laugh out loud or just sigh with with an eye(Roll)…. Reading The Way of All Flesh by Ambrose Parry atm and still figuring out what to think. Booklove from Hanne in Denmark

You are really pushing the idea that it's ridiculous when it's actually not bad. There have been many more popular books which are abysmal, while the maidens is a good read, its intriguing.

@@deadahead7996 what I love about stories is that we Can agree to disagree about them 😊 (sorry for my second language english…) I l o v e d The silent patient and my jaw dropped at The endiing and my expectations for The Maidens were so sky High that I preordered as soon as it was possible. So maybe my expectations was a hindrance for my enjoyment of this one… br Hanne from Denmark

@@hajuzt I completely understand, i also loved the silent patient. However i didnt have any expectations for this book to match it. Im just pointing out that the writer is good at dialogue and just writing books in general despite the plot which elevates his books.
