This is my second attempt at mashing two songs up. I do not own the rights to the music or the recordings and have done this merely as an educational experiment in audio editing.

Just realized they are basically the same song 😂 I was trying to learn how to play "every breath you take " on bass and I just started singing "Stand By Me" and it blew my mind, needed to make sure I wasn't the only one who noticed .

Staci Valenti I was actually composing a song and used this progression to emulate a 50s style and realized it sounded similar to Stand By Me. Then I started playing with it more and thought it sounds like that Police song.

A very similar idea has been in my head for years. I'm actually surprised there aren't more mashups and remixes of these two songs given not only the similarity of their chords but the nature of the lyrics of these songs. Unfortunately, I lack the skill to make anything like this. The closest I came was pasting MIDI tracks together. Great work, Antonio Gandia.

It is so weird I was having a dream I was in a band playing a mash up of this without even listening to either song recently and decided to see if anyone had made a mash up of it and obviously you did and it sounds almost the same as my dream. Weird eh?

You weren't the first to do this. A creator named 'ccc' published this mashup on his website in 2004 and just called it 'Stand By Me'.

I never claimed to be the first, or the best or the only one to have done this. In fact, I got the idea from a friend who pointed out how similar both songs are. But I am the first to do it like me! :)

I wonder if Sting paid Ben E Kings estate for stealing his music and pawning it off as his own? Probably not. There is nothing original about any of Stings music or albums. Cultural appropriation.
