A person can start to feel a bit lonely here in Apneaville. CPAP machines don’t make good conversation. Your videos provide reliable information for the large community of users that usually find it easier to reach their congressman or senator than their doctor. Thanks.

I keep getting email messages from My Air saying I have lots of leakage and too many apnea events! Duh! Yes! I keep complaining about it and asked if there is anything like polident to seal this sucker up to keep it from leaking!!! This is the 3 kind of mask for me! Now I’m on the Phillips Respironics Dreamwear full face mask and a ResMed Air sense 10. I sleep in a recliner because I have severe scoliosis and can’t breathe laying down. I sleep with a neck pillow to keep my head supported from flopping down! I think my facial structure from my nose to my cheeks and mouth has lots of leakage! Now my therapist sent me flannel cloths with a hole for mouth and one for nostrils. I like the hose on top of my head and less face mask on my face. I’m very claustraphobic. I’ve asked for a small size because I’m using a medium right now. I’m serious about always using my CPAP no matter how long it takes!!!

Lost 40lbs...about 20% of my body weight. At the suggestion of my sleep doctor, had another sleep study. Found that while my AHI had gone down some, my CPAP pressure didn't change at all. Which is all okay with me, I didn't lose the weight to get rid of the CPAP, just to be healthier and feel better.

For newbies, I think this is the video you should start with. Lefty was best help to me almost 20 years ago when I was first diagnosed and the equipment was a rigid mask and reverse vacuum cleaner cpap. Lefty, thank you for staying current on your advice. I am a tad sick that I paid a small fortune for a new cpap on my own instead of checking with you about reliable distributors. I have one of the recalled machines and they of course are overwhelmed and unable to repair or replace immediately. Next time I need to buy my own equipment, I will check with you first.

Expiratory Pressure Relief. On leads to poor performance with APAP setting as well as increase for Cheyne-Stokes like respiratory patterns and repeating Central Apneas. In short: it's one more variable where the pressure is changing constantly making it difficult for people (while asleep) to acclimate to breathing.

Hello sir. I’m a huge fan of your videos I’ve been following your content for years. I was wondering if I could use the existing basic filter that my CPAP came with and use it to cut out a square piece of a KN 95 respirator mask and then use that so my machine filters 95% of particles down to 0.3 µm
@wetrock2766
@wetrock2766 4 жыл бұрын
Doubt it would work, the mask filter material is not made to filter the volume of air you use in one night on such a small surface. You breathe the air in your house all day long when you are awake and don't use a mask. If your house is very dusty vacuum often, replace your filter on your heating system or get an HEPA filter machine.

I have several videos that talk about this problem. I know I address it in one of the videos in my 8 part series (with black thumbnail background) With a full face mask you can use either a chinstrap, a MMA style double sided boil and bite mouthguard, or a soft cervical collar snugged up tight. For a nasal pillow or nasal mask you can also add in Somnifix, it works great.

@@Freecpapadvice I have had that dry mouth problem for a few months already and I fixed it pretty much by taping my mouth with 3M Micropore tape, 2 inch wide. I put some lip balm on my lips so the tape is not painful to remove in the morning, I use a 4 inch length on my mouth then press it down. I fold a corner to make something to grab on in the morning and I gently pull on it. I am still experimenting but Micropore leaves little residue that are easy to remove with mineral oil or Dermal Therapy skin cream. I haven't had any irritation or redness. This has reduced my dry mouth problem by 85%. I am going to try double thickness of that tape because it lets air pass trough a bit, will see. Could my mouth opening be cause by my weight loss (30% of my body weight) in the past year and now my air pressure is too high (10) ? I think I'll try it at maybe 8 for a few weeks, what do you think?

I apologize if you've already talked about this but I'm looking for the most comfortable cpap strap covers. I like the neoprene feel on my Resmed mask but they aren't thick enough. It seems strap cover companies are using cotton. I tried the disposable mask liners once. They felt like a sweater was held onto my face. I kept waking up thinking someone was putting cloth over my mouth. I'm curious if you know of a manufacturer that makes a smooth textured strap cover. The back of my neck is sometimes sensitive and the top of my head has a permanent dent, even into my skull bone. I mentioned this to my pulmonologist but he says nothing. You can actually feel a dent on my skull. Anyway, any good companies for strap covers?

Hi Jason. I have been watching your videos as I get started - and I've ordered your Brite Mask and the Hurricane from CheapCpap. Also have the Dreamstation and the Dreamwear nasal cushion mask coming. My question is in regards to the HME. We travel a lot and in order to remain compliant I will take my Dreamstation without the humidifier. Which is where I am stumped. I do not know which mask to get - I think I want to stay with a nasal cushion - but the Dreamwear connection won't work. I've been considering either the Resmed Swift FX Nano or the Resmed N20 Nasal Cushion. They look like they will work with the HME but I haven't been able to find this information anywhere.
