I like to do both without the custom transmission to get more power out of them. In that case the R34 is better due to the extra gear making it faster and more fuel efficient, but the R33 is my favourite GTR anyways so I flip flop between the 2. There was a swap for the R32 added later using the same engine, but it's rather underwhelming as the lowest weight you can get is somehow heavier than the R33.

Not only does GT7 (ironically) feature more downforce bodykit options than Forza, but GT7 also lets you play around with power limiters and ballasts. In Forza, if you max out your car and want to tune the weight distribution or horsepower for a lower class race, your best chance is taking some of those parts off, and depending on the car, you may be well off the mark of the top of the class regardless of how well you tune it. With Gran Turismo, it’s as simple as using the power limiter, ECU, and ballast not only for limiting performance for a certain race, but also making cars handle better by tuning the weight distribution accordingly.

Fr though I’d love to see a Tomahawk swap, preferably for muscle cars since the engine would probably be too unwieldy for most non-muscle cars, and given the focus on straight-line speed, it makes sense. If not the Tomahawk X engine, than at least the GTS-R or even road-going engines.

Race cars probably have a larger fuel tank, which gets swapped in as well into the car. Funnily enough i won the r33 swap on a roulette ticket. It was an all engines ticket though!

@@arinb.756 Race car engines typically also use slower burning fuel, hence why they get away with having so much more power compared to a similarly-constructed pedestrian engine. If anything, it’s probably a mixture between the larger tank and the slower burning fuel that produces such great fuel efficiency in race engine-swapped cars. Kinda makes me wonder if something like a race-modified Prius (read: RWD drivetrain swap, made as lightweight as possible) with an engine modified to use racing fuel would not only be more powerful, but also even more fuel efficient than the Prius already is.

​@@camarokidbb4347The Le Mans prototypes have to have large fuel tanks to make it through endurance races especially the 24 hrs of Le Mans which is the most difficult race on the planet, and when you're out on track for 24 hours nonstop it puts a strain on the driver and the car lol

I always have my stock engine cars a different colour/"style". Big boy engines get either the absolute sleeper or complete track monster look. Stock engine cars get a tasteful period correct(ish)street-style [i'll slap those 4 spoke tiny Japanese wheels on almost anything] I legit never even thought of marking them as favourites, so thanks for the tip mydudes!

I keep it max tuned with a full downforce kit personally. Squirrely off the corners, but it handles like a champ once it goes fast.

I won't say no, but I don't have immediate plans for it. We'll see

An addendum (thx for the heart btw) The R34 w/ the R92CP engine is an absolute BEAST on the dirt, but at max power, I start to understand why the Escudo has so much turbo lag. Tuned at 700 PP, I was able to get a 1:15 lap time on Sardegna Windmills, but with max power, it took me a longer while to beat that lap time by a second. The Tundra w/ the GT500 swap leaves me wondering why there weren’t ever any dedicated racing trucks in the franchise. It’s fun as hell to take out to the dirt and pass dedicated rally cars in. Due to the fact I can’t put any downforce on it however, I actually have it tuned to where the springs are 290mm above the ground, and 200mm to the rear. It’s usually found on the American truck equivalent of ricers, but there IS a reason behind this in baja racing; since the trucks are usually front heavy, they dip lower after the ramp, so raising the front ride height prevents the bumper from touching the ground before the wheels do. It’s nice that this philosophy translates well into GT7, even if unintentionally. The 1991 Honda Beat with the Civic engine almost made me felt dirty with how thoroughly I left my opponents in the dust on the 1 hour Kei-Cup endurance race. Somehow, without the racing ECU that also lowers horsepower, I still managed to get the PP level below 400 for the race, despite me having a 50+ HP advantage. Heck, in general it’s disgustingly overpowered for its performance point rating. With racing hards it has around 550 PP, yet it can reliably compete with cars that have AT LEAST 100 more than that. I recently got the Mazda3 just for the swap, and got a livery for it to resemble Mad Mike’s car. Unfortunately, it can’t be made RWD like the real deal, it can’t reach 1200 HP without NOS, and it doesn’t have the aero, but at least the spirit’s there. The S800 with the motorbike swap is pretty sweet, though it doesn’t handle as well without a rear wing as with the original engine. On the plus side, it allows me to make it more powerful for the 1 hour Alsace race given that a rear wing alone decreases performance points (despite helping with stability), but overall I’ve yet to find the perfect car for this event. Believe me, I’ve tried. Abarth 595 with the Civic engine is absolute cheese, and I love it. Sketchy as fuck to drive, but with a ballast bringing weight distribution to 50-50 and some tinkering with camber and rear toe-in later, and it absolutely DEMOLISHES the Alsace 1 hour endurance mission. Thank Christ. The GT500 swap on the NSX Type R ‘02 is crazy, but not for the same reasons as the ‘88 Silvia’s swap. It weighs 1,918 lbs/870 kg with the swap and max weight reduction, it maxes out at 838 HP, and for how fast the car can be, it’s very fuel efficient, especially without anti-lag. Probably going to be my choice of WTC800 car from now on. Me: I want a Le Mans hypercar! Mom: We have a Le Mans hypercar at home. The Le Mans hypercar at home: engine swapped NSX Type R ‘02 The Crown Athlete G with the SC350 swap is a godsend in terms of fuel efficiency, and with a little more tuning proved to be capable of winning the Deep Forest endurance race, what with a zero-stop race being reasonable with plenty of laps left and the tires still being relatively healthy. The 2015 Miata with the Corvette engine is fun as hell to run, especially with a wide body and max aero. It’s squirrely if you apply max throttle out of a corner, but once it gets going, there’s next to nothing stopping you. I’d consider this an alternative to the swapped TVR Tuscan for those not lucky enough to pick it up in the UCD. The 2000GT-R with the Super Silhouette swap is a lot of fun to drive, in my opinion, especially with the unmodded engine. Even without access to a diffuser, it still handles surprisingly well, probably because it weighs less than 900 kg/1,984 lbs with full weight reduction. The 2017 Alpine A110 with the Nismo GT-R swap (new as of 1.35) is honestly a treat to use given it’s lighter than the Nismo GT-R, has an extra gear, and produces more horsepower than it weighs in kg when maxed out. Shame I can’t add an aftermarket diffuser, which means that a random street car can potentially have more downforce than this hypercar-at-home. Polyphony pls

@@Mycroch While that’d probably be true for any other car, the Chaparral 2J isn’t “any other car.” It’s (to my knowledge) the only fan car in the entire game (Red Bull X2010, 2011, and 2014 fan cars when), and with all minimum LSD settings and a steering angle adapter, it corners extremely well. I can only imagine how OP it’d become with a Tomahawk swap. Unlike the Tomahawk X which requires you going moderately fast to corner well, the 2J corners well almost regardless of how fast you’re going. That said, I’d only really do it if you can get a second one. C’mon legendary dealership…

Maybe treat them the same as an engine swap, to where there’s only one option and can’t be swapped freely, and even then only include them if it either exists on a variant of the model (like FR for the not-GTR R34s), or is a reference to another build (like Mad Mike’s FR Mazda 3 when the original is AWD)

Parasitic power draw from superchargers. No turbo lag, but less overall power. Also because Japanese automobile design isn’t as big on superchargers as they are on turbos. That’s just how it is.
