Wanna watch Better Call Saul in one video? here it is!
Every episode, every season, all compiled into a few hours of entertainment (I hope you find it entertaining)
With minimal chicanery, I added in my own humour to make the time as enjoyable as I can.
Super Thanks has been enabled on this video if you wish to financially reward my efforts, but I'm grateful for you being here all the same.

It wasn't just Chuck's letter being different, it was the way Jimmy was reading it that made Kim cry. Chuck's death broke Jimmy to the point he read his letter without much emotion. It made Kim feel horrible to see him like that, to see their relationship fall to this point and how much it affected him. It's why she recommends him to go see a therapist the next episode.

Kim didn't know what Chuck said to Jimmy before he died .... Chuck broke jimmy and he simply didn't have any grief in him after that initial shock. @@MrHeat48 No not at all, Chuck is present in every season just not as himself but as Jimmy. The reason Mike went out of the way to find the good samaritan's body wasn't to get Hector into any trouble, but because he felt guilty that the family might never know what happened to him. He does this right after the woman he meets in grief counseling describes how the worst part about her husband's disappearance is simply not knowing what happened and not having closure. He realizes the same is probably true about the samaritan's family and because of his guilt reports the body.

This show absolutely nailed two completely different types of villains. Chuck is a love-to-hate type of villain, where he's being so despicable in ways that aren't criminal but are still very infuriating and heartbreaking, and you can't wait for everything to implode back on him. Lalo, in contrast, is a hate-to-love villain, he's so charming and sociable that you can't help but smile back at him, but you don't want to because you know he will kill you if you smile slightly wrong.

I like the way the show puts the suffering of Howard into a second storyline that is treated like a kid brother or kind of a “stepbrotheresque” side story. Howard truly suffered from Jimmy’s attacks and the writers did a wonderful thing in keeping the after effects of all of those terrible pranks from the viewer so when he finally snaps it left us with examining our own guilt for not really recognizing the real world problems all those pranks would cause. That’s why I keep Howard in a warmer place in my heart than any other character on the show.

In his scene right before at the grief counseling, his love interest (Anita) talks about how her and her daughter never found her husbands body/what happened to him: "They found our car, but they never found him. And I don't know if he slipped and fell, or had a heart attack, or met someone who didn't like the way he looked- I don't know. For me, Jimmy's decision to help Mrs Landry in S3E10 'Lantern', was a reminder that at this point he still is empathetic and altruistic at heart, qualities that are gone by the time he becomes Saul Goodman full time. Further to that, Jimmy choosing to do the right thing is juxtaposed with the blow of being told he doesn't matter to Chuck, which I imagine adds to his 'no good deed goes unpunished' transformation into Saul. This was such a good video, been a fan since your Breaking Bad one, thank you for taking the time and effort to make this thoroughly entertaining breakdown!

In the last episodes it also helps show how different the Saul persona is from Jimmy. Saul was ready to strangle Marrion with the lifealert cord, where as Jimmy spent time helping elders with wills, went dumpster diving to expose that sandpiper was scamming the elders. The ending of s6 e9 was not light, it was by far the most depressed moment in the show, it truly shows that Saul is the most sad character in BB and BCS, he plays this character to hide his pain of loneliness, if you look at him he has no friends, like 0, and the last shot of him sitting as his desk alone with absolutely nothing just made me feel so empty

As for my opinion on why Kim reacted so strongly to Chuck's letter, I don't think it was the letter itself that made her upset, I think it was the lack of any emotion from Jimmy which he uses as a coping mechanism. During the scene you can notice how she focuses on Jimmy while he reads it, as well as recommending therapy.

I found Walter and Jesses scenes mainly exist to A) in the Walter/Jesse scene, to give more context to that scene. It feels like a very solid continuation of what happened as the Ignacio/Lalo convo is pretty believable, especially considering that BB episode is the basis for a good chunk of BCS. B) In Jesses scene, it definitely feels like the passing the torch scene, of people lives ruined in part by Saul Goodman, and the story as a whole. C) Walters scene just feels sad to the viewer, as Jimmy was a decent guy, but all people will ever see is the scum that is Saul Goodman, even Walter White. They are all very heavily fan service no doubt, but they all feel good to have in the story. Also I feel like Jimmy hiring Bill as his lawyer was just to troll him honestly lmao, good video bro.
@psysloth1728

I agree, Walter white is practically the sole reason Saul ends up like he does in the last episodes. Not acknowledging that would be weird and I think the rv flashback helps remind us where it all started.

You're right, idk why he complains about it being forced but can't remember that Walt and Jesse were a major impact on Jimmy's life, but since everyone is a media critic and its cool to have hot takes then we do not have to use our brains to connect themes ourselves. I understand making a point and backing it up with evidence but blowing complaining about something important just because you do not like it is a major bird-brain moment.

@@user-pp2tz9br1g Walt was a major impact. Jesse was not. All of Walt's family was just there to create conflict. This includes Jesse. Jesse being there makes it feel like a cameo from Brian Cranston and Aaron Paul instead of Walt and Jesse showing up in a flashback. Edit: This said before watching that far in this video.

a very important thing you should consider about the breaking bad cameos is they first parallel black and white sauls response to sink deeper into crime, and secondly highlight just how saul jumped on working with Walter White despite Mike warning him on otherwise and being kidnapped, giving vital context for finale (especially for those who haven't watched breaking bad and wouldn't have know just how much the silly saul character helped walter)

@@Howesenberg i feel the episode is about recontextualizing what saul did in breaking bad through what he does again as gene. in that episode he sees the opportunity to steal from a vulnerable man with cancer and is advised not to do it several times, but he does it anyway. he took advantage of a cancer patient for money twice now. this episode shows how morally bankrupt jimmy is at the core after everything happened. he saw the consequences of his first time stealing from a cancer patient and he did it again anyway just because he could.

@@Howesenberg The RV flashback is also meant to show us how being kidnapped was from Jimmy's perspective, especially after we know who Lalo is now. The scene is more intense when he's kneeling in front of the grave and Jesse's question of who Lalo is shows how traumatised he still is to believe he came back again.

I didn't really feel that any of the Walt/Jesse cameos were pointless. They each meant something very important. 1) Their shared scene was Saul's introduction to them, and it's important for Saul's role in Walt's demise, which adds more to Breaking Bad's story, but also strengthens the connective tissue between the main events of this show, and the Gene timeline, by exploring what went wrong for Saul after Kim left. 2) Kim and Jesse's scene was a shared moment where one character escapes Saul and another begins a partnership. The two had a lot in common and I think it worked for that reason. 3) Walt's scene made a lot of sense as he was one of the three 'ghosts' in Saul's time machine discussions along with Mike and Chuck. They obviously had some more fan servicey elements but I think they were handled extremely well for what they were.

Great video as always. Just a note: Jimmy wasn't excluded from the Sandpiper money after messing with Irene. The main motivation (at first) behind Kim and Jimmy's scheme to take down Howard is the Sandpiper money, since ruining Howards reputation will cause HHM to settle sooner and can fast track Kim and Jimmy's individual law practices. Then it's revealed that the settlement money wasn't Kim's main motivation after she received the offer from Cliff for her pro bono practice, which she blew off in order to fix the Howard scam. The settlement money is also how Jimmy was able to become full Saul Goodman so soon.

That mention of Lalo's footsteps fading into thunder storms was GOLD. An excellent example of the Master level at which the BB/BCS production teams operate. I dont listen to the TV with a very high volume; these days all the music is mixed WAY too hot and the dialogue is always 20% softer, AT LEAST. Vox explained it, _(supposedly...)_ But simply understanding does little to restore the balance to modern sound mixing. My hearing loss is nerve related, and the hz range that dips out on me is basically that mid to mid/low male voice. So pumping the volume does little to improve my experience. Best bet is keeping captioning on, and my brain takes that cheat sheet and fills in the blanks. I've tested myself on shows, and with captions on, everything I'm watching seems much louder, and the audio seems crystal clear. But if I look away without raising the volume of anything that was JUST diamond clear to me moments earlier is suddenly muted and mush mouthed. I'm always impressed with just HOW MUCH can be faked by the brain with just a bit of prompting. But subsequently, subtle auditory moments like this are frequently wasted on me. 🤷🏼‍♂️ what can ya do, right?

Damn this explanation was amazing, watched it after the breaking bad one which was also great. The cinematography, character development and violence is all on point with this show. When people say this series does better than its prequel, as any show or movie should, it surely does show that with its title and its presentation. I got confused with this show as if it's actually before or after breaking bad cause they shows scenes where Saul, Walter and Jesse discussed and other scenes that perplexed me but then I got the message and finally understood after awhile and also clearer to me after watching this video, especially the last season explanation you've done.
