a ball burnisher,very useful to improve surface finish and increase surface hardness on shafts that run in bush bearings. Ball and roller type burnishing tools can also be used in a metal shaper to finish flat surfaces.

This is one of my favorites! You must use it all the time on hydraulic cylinders. Instead of removing material around a nick it forges it back into the scratch.

Да не совсем так, шар который оказывает точечное давление в месте сопряжения с деталью упрочняет и выравнивает поверхность качественее, чем плоскость наружной обоймы подшипника. Проверено на практике.

With our diamond point burnisher, we seem to get slightly better results burnishing with the lathe in reverse (opposite the direction used to cut the finish the bar). Can you tell any difference with your large-ball roller burnisher?

Thanks for the insight into the different cutting attachments and how to use them for the specific target. I come from more of a woodworking background, but these techniques are familiar to me from family members in the locksmith industry, just not from a detailed view. Thanks so much for this.

Excellent design. Not only does burnishing leave a great finish, it also work hardens the surface. Out in industry, they finish holes by pushing hardened polished balls through them. Also they have roller burnishing tools that burnish holes as well.

I'd be interested in knowing whether a burnished finish would fare better than a ground finish using ever decreasing grit sizes down to 3000 grit or smaller followed by leather strop. This in application of o ring seals in high pressure pneumatic systems.....

Very nice finish, but the ball will also wear the inner walls of its parent tool as only the rear is designed to take the load. How long does the tool last before requiring a new ball holder?

It doesn't have to be a ball. Just a bearing alone mounted so you can use it's outer race as the surface that contacts the work will also do the same job. Metal spinners have used similar tools for over a hundred years.

Tornea un pedazo de hierro o acero, le das la conicidad del rodamiento, pero dejas un poco menos de longitud para presionar con el punto giratorio o contrapunta. Si la conicidad es menor a tres o cuatro grados, no se queda pegado con la presión de la contrapunta y un golpecito lo zafa, después del torneado que vayas a hacer. Si es menor a dos grados de inclinación no hay necesidad de presionar con la contrapunta o cabezal móvil: así como se monta un cono Morse en el cono husillo.

Would you just keep on planishing it till you get it. That’s awesome. Is that just to get a more desirable finish….. meaning you prolly couldn’t get an accurate size say within a thousand of an inch could you? Just asking…that is awesome work you’re doing there. I’ve never seen a slot milled with a drill bit as I’ve always had the pleasure of milling machines in my life. Like I said up above I’ve been doing it since 1978 and you can teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you so much for sharing your talents.

как придумать проблему, а потом героически с ней бороться. большие обороты, маленькая подача и закругленный кончик режущей кромки резца вполне способны решить проблему с шероховатостью поверхности, и изобретать ничего не нужно.

Такой чистоты поверхности не получить резцом, попробуй а потом советуй. Плюсом этой технологии также идёт упрочнение поверхности. Заменителем накатки является алмазный выглаживатель, тоже даёт такую чистоту и упрочнение поверхности.

Для того что бы получить выше чистоту металла нужно его закалить и тогда вы добьётесь 10 класс чистоты
