Nice inspiration! Thanks a lot! According to rythm, I think of it in a historical perspective: back in the days, Django and Grapelli chose not to have a drummer with them, maybe because drums were too loud. Still, some kind of rythm was needed, and la pompe kinda of simulates the drummer playing with whiskers/soft sticks on 2 & 4. I'm no expert at all, but I think there's a basic thing that none of the videoes on youtube tell you about playing rythm alá la pompe: the strum & release on 2 and 4, the "rake" on 1 & 3, and hitting the lower strings (D-G-B-E) quicker and harder on 2 & 4. My teacher told me this: Count the beats like the: 1-eh-and-uh 2 and do this: On 1 you fret the chord and strum, release on "eh". That sounds the chord. Fret the chord on "uh" and strum AND release on 2, that gives you the umph and a glimpse of the chord and snare. Upstrokes are on 2-eh and 4-eh. But the release and strum-thing is what nobody emphasizes on youtube and many of us struggle to learn. To me, that's the core of bouncyness in la pompe. Oh yeah, and when you've learned that, practice a slower strum on 1 & 3 on alle strings, but emphasizing the E-A-D-strings (what I call "rake") and hitting harder on 2 & 4, mainly on D-G-B-E-strings. That advice have helped me a lot. There's also something about the wrist angle and how to hold/lock the pick, but I guess it's out of scope of a youtube-comment. Christiaan, the reason I'm writing this is to give you a glimpse of a beginners mind, what we struggle with and what we need our teachers to tell us!

I love these 3 note chords. I need to start using those A6 and G6 forms rather than my usual maj 7 and extensions. Nice, simple and direct solid harmony.
