I can't believe he didn't mention the giant hill at hole 6 and how it sets up a blind second shot. Some of the most famous shots in golf have come on the 2nd shot at 6, including some of Tiger's best.

Pebble is amazing. Exhilarating views that can’t be touched on the ocean holes, but so boring inside that. Oakmont will always be king, but it sure is fun having an open at pebble. Enjoy the tournament world!

It's great that GD did this.. wonderful videos on famous golf courses.. although one may not agree with Jim's assessments.. some holes do stick in your mind because of its uniqueness, and at Pebble Beach may only have 3 at most.. like at Augusta too.. I guess the aura of being at the site counts a lot more than what the video can show..

I’m +2 and played it in college in competition 20 years ago- played my practice round… lost every ball I had in the bag (might have left the last one at the lodge 😎) and shot a 91. Learned a lot that day 😂.

If you think about it distance wise the course is not that bad. The key is keeping it in the fairway. There is not need to hit more than an iron on the par 4's in the U.S. Open next week.

Pebble is amazing! I still think of what it could be though! Imagine walking around the bend of the 3rd fairway and actually seeing the ocean instead of a billionaire’s house. It should be one of the great reveals in golf but instead there are houses and a hedge blocking your view. I guess we can only dream about what it would be like without homes, the beach club, or with firmer playing conditions year-round. I’m probably being too idealistic but one can dream, right?

I've played Pebble Beach in my Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Challenge computer golf game. It's a tough course in the game, I can just imagine how tough it must be in real life. Unfortunately I'll probably never be able to play the real thing, so the computer game will have to do.

small firm greens beat these bombers up every time still need some length off the tee but precision irons and putting will win it this week i like tiger to give it a go not saying he'll win but it's a great course for his current state of game just has to make putts and he'll be right there come sunday

Man, what have they done to the 17th green? It was beautiful as it was, and a real challenge to hit. And that is the point of championship golf. These pros don’t need more help, they have superior technology than decades ago, why would you you give them bigger putting surfaces? It’s a shame.

The 17th green has never been changed, at least not in my lifetime. I’ve played Pebble at least once a year since 1982 and the 17th green is the same today as it was when I first played it. All of the greens in this video look larger than they do in person. FYI - there is a big hump running through the middle of the hour-glass shaped 17th green. The green onb the right side of that hump is the much easier side to play to and is used during the AT&T ProAm, but not during major championships in which the green to the left if that hump is where holes are placed. Also, the front and back tees are separated by a narrow road. For the AT&T ProAm, the front tees are used makingbthe hole play to aprox 160 yards. The championship tees back across the far side of the road are only used for the U.S. Open & PGA Championship. This video notes rhe yardage as 209 yards, but championship teeing ground shares the same teeing fround as the 4th hole, which allows the 17th tee to be moved back and play as lonf as 225 yards, which is the yardage it played to when Nicklaus hit his famous 1-iron shot….225 yards straight into a 25 mph wind.
