Catching Fire will forever be my favourite film and book of the franchise, since there seem to be more stakes, we're already familiar with the universe and most of the main players, plus Finnick and Johanna make their debuts.

I always preferred Mockingjay part 1 over 2 and glad I’m not the only one. The hospital scene is one of the most powerful in the franchise and it sucks to see how scarily relevant it is now

Unpopular opinion: Mockingjay was my favorite book for a while because İ was actually really into the slower pacing and being away from the action (at least till the end). İ liked reading into all the politics and character motivations especially for Katniss as she falls deeper and deeper in her trauma and desperation, and Gale (also weirdly my favorite character) as he starts going on a dark path, doing anything he can to get revenge against the Capitol.

Talking about the songs in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, my fav was the one Lucy sang when facing the snakes. Thinking that was going to b her last song, so would go out doing what she truly loves most. Morgan here's an idea for another franchise to rank and talk about. The Divergent series.

For me, I think part of the reason why I have Catching Fire and Ballad very high on my lists and love them is because their worldbuilding is very interesting and heavily expands out what was initially introduced in the first book/film (I find myself going back to these two the most). With Ballad, I just think it’s such an amazing character piece and really fleshes out Coriolanus’s character supremely well (especially with how well done this is done as a villain origin story and integrating a lot of the different philosophies on humanity as seen in various characters such as Snow, Lucy Gray, Sejanus, and Dr. Gaul).

Mockingjay is by far my favorite. Because people forget Katniss is basically a teenage. She has gone through 2 games in which she was basically on the verge of being killed. She witnessed the aftermath of her whole district obliteration for which she feels personally responsible. And Peeta has been taken away from her. Imagine living through all that in such a short spam. It portrays the horrors of war so well.

I really loved the Mockingjay movies. Both part 1 and 2. They're above the first movie in my ranking. I even liked the Mockingjay book a bit more than the first book. But yeah... Catching Fire, both the book and film, are the peak THG without a doubt.

Yes, Catching Fire is the best book and movie of the series. I love exploring the growth of Katniss and Peeta's friendship, getting to know Haymitch better and of course, meeting some of the older victors. But I'd like to step in and defend Mockingjay, in particular the movies. Those movies NEEDED to be split! The slow burn and torment between Katniss being rescued and Peeta being rescued would've been so rushed if condensed into one movie. One of the major themes in the books is the agony of Katniss not knowing whether Peeta is alive or not. The fatherly relationship that has been slowly built up - both Katniss and Haymitch take a while to warm up to people - is put on the line in Part 1. There's been a real sense of betrayal and lost trust over Haymitch's deception. That's one of my favourite parts of the book, watching them rebuild their relationship, it's so 'in character' though it's kind of hilarious. They still rub each other the wrong way but agree to tolerate each other for Peeta's survival. There's a deleted scene from Part 1 that is worth a watch (could be an interesting video idea, watching deleted scenes and juding whether they should've been left in or not). Also, you get introduced to so many pivotal characters and complex world building In Mockingjay Part 1. 2. Peeta's torture also needed to have time to be drawn out. There's a real sense of hopelessness that he'll never get better because at first, he doesn't make much progress. Trying to fit that in one film would've made it seem like the hijacking was reversed at the snap of a finger. It is a kind of a weird place to pick up for Part 2, but to be fair I can't really see where else it could've been cut. I think it's one of the best book to movie adaptations out there - so good I can't see them ever justifying doing a remake. Okay, I've said my piece.

I feel like the two Mockingjay movies had alof of potential. Theh split it in two parts so they could be truer to the book, but then they missed so many parts of the book! They could have focused more on her relationship with Joanna and ALL the other victors. They could have chatacterized Finnik more, showed the propos of the fallen tributes, ect. There was so much that they could've done!!!

I love how Catching Fire is #1!! Best movie/Book ever. But, my hot take is that if Mockingjay part 1 was written more like the books, it would’ve been my second favorite by far. As someone who’s favorite characters are Gale and Finnick, they had so many amazing scenes that were just scrapped in the movies. It made me really sad that tons of Gale/Katniss moments got replaced with Gale calling Peeta a coward; A scene that makes no sense for his character and also uncanon. Mockingjay part 2 is so rough for me too, Finnicks death and the Goodbye Gale scene will forever traumatize me.

I was one of the viewers who saw the movies first and now listened to the audio books. Now a great fan I enjoy these videos just saw the new one a few days ago I wish they showed more of Katniss and finicks friendship in the films

if I was a young adult, I would out catching fire book and movie at #1 too but as I got older, I really do love Mockingjay part 2 the movie more because of how real and devastating it was and I like how it wrapped up so well. the book of Mockingjay is also really good read while the ending to Katniss was so devastating, I like how it doesn't shy away realism to the aftermath of the war and rebellion it makes you question so deep but also shows what real loss and emptiness dispute her having been with Peeta with her own family she still feels so broken and not okay, and I love that.

I really like your ranking but I think mine would go like this (btw like in the video I still adore, love and appreciate all of these) I think people may hate how I rank ballad and catching fire evenly but I love catching fire (like everyone else) and ballad just has a really special place in my heart. 8/9 - mockingjay movies part 1 and 2 (I can’t decide which I like more) 7 - mockingjay book, I loved certain parts and then there were parts where there were lulls. In the other books I can’t remember ever feeling bored 6 - Hunger Games film, pretty much everything you said in your video about it. It holds a special place in my heart because before I ever read the books I walked in on my parents watching it and it was the tracker jacket scene. That particular scene means a lot to me because it’s what peaked my interest in the series. 5/4 - can’t decide between ballad and catching fire. catching fire movie, this is definitely the one I’ve watched the most. It’s so so good, nothing else to say. the ballad of songbirds and snakes movie. I read the book as soon as it came out and loved it, I had a few things with the movie I didn’t like they took out, I wish they had just gone to that 3 hour mark, but overall loved it. 3 - hunger games book, same reasons you had. Such a great start to a series 2/1 - the Ballad book and Catching Fire book. Ballad is really special to me because it was the first big book release I got to enjoy (other books series I like such as Harry Potter, maze runner and the other hunger games books came out before I was old enough) so with Ballad I got an experience I never had before plus I just think it’s an amazing book. I think it’s clear why catching fire would be in the top, it really is one of the best sequels ever made.

I literally could not agree more. Every ranking was the same as my personal opinion. I love catching fires so much. The idea of a hunger games for the victors was so genius!

I think the only thing that I disagreed with was your ranking of the ballad of songbirds and snakes book. Even though I've only been able to make it through once. I enjoyed that 1 read through so much. I think it deserved to be. Much higher On the list.

I may have said this on a pre-recorded video, but I would like to see a dissection and comparison of each book and its respected film counterpart, like you did with the Harry Potter books and films. And maybe a series on looking at every hidden detail or easter egg in each film once that series is finished for the Harry Potter films.

I loved Jennifer Lawrence in "The Hunger Games". When she volunteered for her sister, I tear up. I'm a mother, so if I was in that position, I would do the same if someone hurt my family and I had a chance to save them. I would love if you could make a video about if Mockingjay could have been successful adopted into one film. I've always been of the minority opinion that a single Mockingjay film would have felt too rushed and cut too many important beats from the book to fit into a single films runtime (especially given how much content still had to be cut between the two films), but I also had this same worry with Songbirds and Snakes, yet that done quite well. I also feel like almost everything goods about Mockingjay films get overlooked purely because they have Part 1&2 in their titles. I personally preferred Part 2 to the original Hunger Games.

The catching fire movie and book will always be my favorite! The details added were so spectacular and really made the whole plot long interesting.

I've only seen the first four movies once, except for Mockingjay Part 1 which I saw for the first time when it was playing at my college and was actually the first time I've seen a Hunger Games movie. I'm glad Catching Fire movie is your favorite cause it's mine, too. Even though I think the first Hunger Games movie did the games better, I liked seeing the movie explore the characters more and dealing with the aftermath of the last Hunger Games and the painfully, unfair new Hunger Games that the victors had to go through again, which Johanna stated perfectly her interview.

THG is one of my favorite, and the best of them would be catching fire. It's truely when the people start to rise, and it's when Finnic and Joanna make their way into our lives.

Thats a cool list and yes, catching fire was awesome. However, to me Songbirds and Snakes was the biggest surprise. I was sooooooo worried going into this movie, after hearing Peter Dinklage und Rachel Zegler complaining about "fantasy creatures" and "males in storytelling" for over a year. I'm sure that Gary Ross is a very nice man, and he certainly did a better job with the first Hunger Games than I ever could, and he should be proud of himself that he was a part of something so significant. However it was not the directorial effort that that franchise deserved. That alone is almost enough for me to put the first hunger games movie at the botton of the list, story problems in the sequels not withstanding.

Catching fire has to be my ranking of number 2 in my favourite books of all time and the Adaptation did a good job and introduced charming but broken Finnick Odair and cocky and strong Johanna Mason

My favorites are definitely hunger games and catching fire. For me, the first book was special to me because it was interesting to hear about katnisses past life and about rue. The second we rlly cool and I liked how it was also rlly funny

I love every hunger games book and films equally, so its really hard for me to even rank them. If I had to rank them, I'd do them seperately like this: Books: Mockingjay Catching Fire Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and The Hunger Games That's really hard though as they all standout it in amazing ways and I love the first book so much as its a huge sense of nosalgia, so I can't really rank one last. Mockingjay is just my favourite as I love the politics and the charcterisation so much, and the more focus on war. But the music was fantastic, again though, they cut some of my favourite songs, so maybe it should once again be neck and neck with the first one. For the most part I totally agree! But I do think MJP2 is better than MJP1 and I do think the ballad of songbirds and snakes book is great! mockingjay is my favourite book in the series and my favourite movie is the hunger games which is a weird standpoint i know but i love mockingjay its so heartbreakingly sad reading and seeing katniss and everyone around hers mental deterioration and seeing how peeta is treated and how he feels by the end of and i love the hunger games movie because it really shows the characters relationships very well i think the director did a good job of showing that katniss didn’t really love gale in that way unlike the other directors she never really loved him as more than a brother

I agree with your list, though I have not seen the Songbirds and Snakes movie yet. I have heard many good things about the movie, so I am looking forward to seeing it. I listened to the audiobook, and the story suffered from a lack-luster narrator as well as the rushed third act.

Oh, I've been waiting for this! I really love the new movie, SO much better than the original 4 (I gave up halfway through Mockingjay P1), although catching fire was pretty good. I think this is probably to do with the fact that Mockingjay the book is maybe a 4/10 tops. I kinda don't like it and I think your argument that Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is slow in the 3rd part is increased tenfold throughout the entire Mockingjay book.

The Ballad of songbirds and snakes book is my favorite and the movie based on it is honestly my least favorite. They changed and removed so much stuff from the book and it made me really disappointed. The whole movie just felt super rushed and would have benefited from having a longer runtime or be split in two parts.

Ranking any of the original movies under the prequel movie is absolutely criminal. It could take the bottom spot based on the terrible performances alone, but it has numerous other problems. Including pacing, god-awful cgi, and being a total cringe-fest to watch. Even though the original films have some directing flaws and story problems it still surpasses this new movie, which had all those same problems and more. I wasn’t invested in any character, no emotional ties to anyone (which the first movie had from the very first scene). Everything else was spot on. Love your vids btw❤

Again totally agree with you there, I think these two should have been one movie and another one should have been split 7: the ballad of songbirds and snakes movie: this movie should have been split in to two, one being the first two parts, so they had more time for it and then the rushed ending could have been its own movie, fleshing it out more and making snows turn more obvious on screen. Funny. The first time I started reading the Harry Potter books was when I had to read 1-3 books and write a draft about each book for English in 10th grade which was after the last movie came out. I read the first three books as my choices.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was good. Not quite as good as the original trilogy, but still good. Some things were different than the book, but that’s a film adaptation for you. Also, my only complaint about the first film is that District 4 wasn’t a Career District. And another thing, I like Catching Fire the most. My one complaint about the film is that there wasn’t really a bloodbath.
