Australia’s iconic koala is on a shocking plummet towards extinction. Within one decade it has gone from no listing to vulnerable to endangered. Friends of the Koala is on the frontline of the battle to save the species.
“Every Koala Counts” is an intimate exploration of the inspiring people who have taken a stand to save this species - past and present. It tracks the development of Friends of the Koala from its fledgling start as a group of tree planters, to battles fought to save precious habitat, to the dedicated rescue, hospital and care centre staff caring for sick and injured animals.
At the heart of the story are the koalas themselves including the adorable battler Banjo who months after being rescued with infected wounds and covered in ticks, is ready to be released to hopefully father a new generation.

Absolutely! Every single little koala is very important! We have to do every thing we can possibly do, from everyone, on all fronts!!! We must do what we can together and support those that do what we cannot! ❤️🐨🌳✊

Thank you for all of the work that you do for koalas. The fact that koalas are in such trouble is a loud a clear sign that our impacts on nature are unsustainable. By helping koalas you are also helping other forest fauna. Keep up the amazing work.

I have tears in my eyes, ah , these precious animals. That is has come this far is tragic enough but that habitat destruction is going on and on is pure madness. THANK YOIU FOK for your most valuable, loving and excellent work. Let‘s save the koalas and other wildlife 🐨🐨♥️🌳🌳🌳🐨
