What made me sad was what happened to Venser. From Loyal planeswalker buddy to, a Phyrexia Corpse Puppet.

It was mentioned early, but there is a difference between infected with the glistening oil and compleated. When you're infected with the oil, you're undergoing phyresis. When you've had the surgical alterations, you're considered compleated. Nahiri: undergoing Phyresis Ajani: compleated

Nemesis took place on Rath and fading was thematically tied to the Rathi overlay and Rath’s lack of stability. Very good flavor call to have something give a nod to it on New Phyrexia after its use on the “staging plane” of Yawgmoth’s original.

I loved that Cam mentioned Keskit looking like Patches, which is perfect cus Patches in Bloodborne was also a Spider that lived in the academy.

As a primarily audio listener, I for one was shocked when I looked at the screen and discovered 3 sets of pants. Engagement unlocked!

Geth in OG mirrodin was kinda wild He was basically a regional warlord in charge of part of the Dross when Glissa and company came through trying to find the Kaldra equipmemt and get revenge on Memnarch. Geth didn't really care, but got beaten up and then beheaded and overthrown by his underlings. ...except he became a lich and re-overthrew the new leader as only a head And from there, being literally only an undead head, he was kinda ripe for early compleation

Geth was one of the minor problems in the original Mirrodin Trilogy of books, where Glissa, Bosh and Slobad basically teamed up to fight against Memnarch, who was Phyrexianized before Phyrexia came back (He used to look like Karn, almost identically, before "improving" himself with chunks of metal and goo to become what he looks like on his card.) The best part of the Mirrodin Trilogy books (they're pretty dire, with a villanious Deus Ex Machina literally restarting the story in the third novel) is that Glissa, Bosh and Slobad manage to kill Memnarch by unleashing the Fifth Dawn underneath him, and burning him up in the missing Green Sun as it rises, preventing him from stealing Glissa's Spark that would have made her a planeswalker.

Cameron was correct, the there was originally no green sun (or there was, but not visible).

Malcator's white pip is more likely a nod towards the loxodon he was prior to compleation. Nemesis was set on Rath, but it was part of the Mercadian Masques block so I understand the confusion. It's the only block in which all the settings are different, as Prophecy, the third set, was set on Dominaria. You see kids, Magic sets used to be grouped into three sets called blocks blah blah blah I'm old. The Mask of Yawgmoth doesn't get enough love. That's why I got it tattooed on my forearm.

I'd also like to note the similarity between Mirrex and Crumbling Vestige from Oath of the Gatewatch, how the land even tries to give one last gift against the invaders, and the invaders' total dominance of the area. Very neat mechanic similarity

One of my favourite easter eggs is that Venser, Corpse Puppet's token looks like Karn. Makes me think that something in there still remembers his friend.

Vishgraz is considered a heretical creation by Phyrexia which is weird to me. But a post by wizard's said that.

The Green sun was the missing sun, which Glissa helped free from Memnarch. Makes sense with Green hating on Artifacts. Caged Sun depicting the Green sun is a reference to this.

I think Urtet is also quite the interesting character to get a card now. Especially since it references Memnarch by name. He seems to be one of the only beings somewhat equipped to face the Phyrexians more head on, even considering his prior schemes not painting him an a very good light. He was able to somewhat halt/control the Mycosynth, which helps but also hinders the Phyrexians at the same time. So I'm interested to see if he will play a role in the future. Also Urtet is a Myr which is always good.

Back in Mirrodin/Onslaught Standard, I actually made a deck focused on Leveler and using the "Words of" enchantments (1: next time you would draw, do thing instead) to deal with the exiled library, and it was surprisingly strong as a deck.

I picked up Affinity at the beginning of the year for Modern because it seemed (and is) very fun to play. Not to mention all the cards besides Urza's Saga are pretty cheap. Frogmite, Ornithopter, Treasure Vault, etc.

An interesting thing I noticed about the red Phyrexians is that none of them have toxic or corrupted. They do not feel the need to complete you by force.

I'm all for a Frogmite and Myr Enforcer reprint into Standard and Pioneer. I love the flavor text for Resistance Skywarden, but I fear the Ogre may have died or was compleated in Ruthless Predation.

Bosh got more 'meaty' because of the mycosynth. It turns organic into inorganic and inorganic into organic. Its the reason current phyrexians are much more 'meaty' than og phyrexians for whom completion was doing away with organic bodies.
