If they do end up bringing the Metroid suit back, I hope they make it a sort of devil trigger giving you a massive power up to use when your back is against the wall.

The Gravity suit in this game is my fav in the series. Only competition is the mp2 varia suit for how iconic it is

Dread probably has my favorite suit designs in all of Metroid. I love the look of the suit regenerating.

I could not disagree more on the gravity suit ranking, it’s honestly up there with light suit and SR Gravity suit for me. Although I do agree that mercury steams suit designs are great overall (despite some nitpicks)

Part of me thinks the Metroid Suit is a one off, but the other part of me wants Samus to have a Devil Trigger.

Disagree on the gravity suit. Samus's suits in the game are meant to become more aggressive looking as the game progresses, this cleverly foreshadows the twist at the end of the game. The design of the lights reflect this, and so do their color. The green lights are much more intimidating than blue.

I think a Ridley variant review would be a great new mini series

I really hope that Samus' blue-colored base Power Suit will remains the norm for future games, it just THAT PERFECT. The very best suit since Super Metroid's Varia Suit and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes' Light Suit. I wouldn't say no to more Metroid Suit in the future if Samus is able to control more of her latent rage and power granted to her by the Metroid DNA, there's thematic potentials laying in wait to be mined in the next game.

Dread's power suit is just my new favourite design for sci-fi armour in general, all you;ve said just resonates with why I like it.

So my take on the varia and gravity suit is that it’s showing the armor’s reaction to the metamorphosis of Samus. Its physical properties change with her transformation and the suit upgrades show that as they progress all the way to the Metroid suit. For example the green lights from varia going farther on gravity, the armor becoming more like armor plating instead of actual armor, and then the claws and teeth of the Metroid suit.

I don’t know if you take suggestions or not, but I think a series on the morphball designs would be interesting The designs of the morphballs are an under appreciated aspect of metroid IMO

Honestly all the suits in this game are amazing. I can definitely understand why the gravity suit is considered the weakest, but I have to disagree with its rating. Honestly my personal favourite gravity suit and it isn’t really close, and I’m sure a decent amount of people agree. However the analysis is, as always, well structured and reasoned and I think it’s valid despite disagreeing somewhat.

I love the feminine characteristics of Samus and her armor in this game. She is still badass without being a robot. The hips swaying and when she is observing something in cutscenes she kinda pops her hip to the side. Love it

Ya know on my thought with the Metroid form I want it to be kinda a berserker form of hers she has to learn to control on her own and it’s dread design is the untamed form.

I like the blue power suit in this one.

Yeah my favorite Metroid game

Light Suit in MP2 is my top Favorite. But I have to admit Dead, which I never played, looks incredible. Shoutout to Other M. They did a great job on the suit.

To be completely honest, I think the green looks better on the gravity suit since it isn't an indigo or deeper purple

the only thing i mind about the metroid suit is the green, which is crazy since green is my favourite colour!

i personally love the metroid suit. i also love the metroid series take on immortality, if anyone else has noticed that.

I think the metroid suit should come back but better integrated into the overal design of her other suits, this time it will be primarily green but with the more mechanical details instead of the more organic protrusions Dread has. I think it was great that they made this Metroid suit organic and rough given that it was the first time Samus has ever used it but moving forward if they are intending to keep it as an item then it should be more inline with the rest of her suit upgrades.

I kinda like the green lights on the gravity suit. It doesn't happen very often and it's a nice chance of pace. (The only other game to do this is zero mission)

Dread's Gravity Suit is probably my fave. I like the colors of the blue Power Suit, but the design itself isn't enough. I dunno how to explain it. The Varia suit is neat, but I'd rather they kept the blue instead of the yellow bits(the orange is still as valid as ever). My biggest problem with the Gravity Suit is the color. Way too much purple that it looks flat. I wish it retained hints of blue and orange. Additionally, I think the chest lights extend a bit too far down. Reaching the bottom of the red chest unit looks great, but something about going even further feels off. The Metroid Suit definitely has a hint in the name, though I typically associate Metroids with more colors than just green and red. Aside from that, I think it leans too heavily into the whole Metroid thing, which is the point, to be fair, but I'd like something more balanced with Samus' humanity and chozo aesthetics. My ideal Samus design would probably be an amalgam of Dread's three main suits.

This is the first time I ever liked the Gravity Suit.

The dread powersuit is the only one for me now. I do love all the designs but if I ever have a favourite, it'll be that one every time.

Personally disagree on the lights being blue, it doesn't work as well here as it does in Prime imo. However I absolutely agree on the lights going down her torso, I'm not a fan of that at all. Samus Returns still has my overall favorite gravity suit design, but if it wasn't for those lights it would probably be Dread as that suit is otherwise so good

I hope Samus might appear in her Dread Varia suit in the future Super Smash Bros, Game, and make her Metroid Suit as her Final Smash Form, it sounds like a good idea, if you think about it.

The base Dread power suit is at least top 3 suits in the entire series for me, if not THE best one! I love its color and the "fibers"! I also seem to be one of the few who dislike the Metroid suit at the end of the game.

While I agree entirely with you on the Power Suit and Varia Suit, hard disagree on the Gravity Suit. Dread genuinely has the best Gravity Suit in the series and a not insignificant part of why that is is that green compliments purple better than blue does. I desperately hope they never go back to the blue lights and instead stick with green ones from now on.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only person who thought the Dread Gravity Suit was kind of a downgrade. A little bit too aggressive in some ways, it throws off that carefully-crafted balance the other two Suits went for. I guess that’s what happens when you mess with perfection!

I hope the three stages of armor having verry diffrent collors and shapes stay for the next games. For the inerlayer it can stay gold if it is more metalic and gold looking instead of piss yellow and plasticy sometimes but white is more astronaut like and the one they chose is verry nice and better looking than the gold ones.

Sorry the metroid suit doesn’t look like a metroid. It looks like a preying mantis had sex with a leaf bug. Metroids have the translucent shell that carries over to all the evolved forms. Maybe you can make a case for the later stages of a metroid but its not a good design. Another thing you didn’t mention is that samus suits never portray her shoulder width accurately. I wish they can bite the bullet and show what shoulder accurate design could be shown
