Power scaling mutants doesn’t make sense. Their powers are more qualitative than quantitative. Power scaling makes sense when a power is quantified such as the intensity of energy beams you can shoot or the amount of weight you can lift. Qualitative powers like teleportation or wall crawling are not as easily scaled and provide additional functionality more than greater intensity of function.

also one of my favorite little quirks is that mutant classifications was not a thing for the most part. It was not until long after when a writer just did a quick little thing and it evolved. I also need to note that Emma Frost is in the middle ground of alpha and omega. She has been classified as both at times.

Just because wolverine have no choice in his healing factor isn't. The thing about wolverine that would make him an Alpha instead of beta is the fact that even beaten he isn't dead. The countless times he can come back will have even the most powerful omega level worried. If wolverine really wants something dead it might happen. If wolverine decided to be stealthy it's over. Professor x is omega really. Might not be the ultimate telepathic but has multiple abilities within that along with telekinetic abilities.

Are we not going to talk about Beyond Omega Mutants, the mutants who are a universal threat? Franklin Richard is a Beyond Omega Mutant.

Ugh, I wish mutants would quit being classified as species. Even the creators are guilt of this. A species is a population of individuals that share traits and can reproduce. EVERY trait that you have that is different than the ones in the rest of your species is either a mutation that you were born with or a mutation you inherited from a parent. At best "mutants" are subspecies. A section of a species with enough differences that it appears different at surficial level.

Levels have absolutely nothing to do with looks or ability to control your powers, Scott Summers could not control his power until he reached Omaga level, he needed ruby-blocking visor or shades to hold it back. Levels only relate to the mutant's abilities. Leach as an Beta level can block other mutants abilities within a small distance as an area effect, but at Omega level he can block them from miles away and select which mutants to block.

Wolverine and sabertooth are usually on the same level sabertooth can pass for human if he chooses to dress normally just like wolverine he just have sharp teeth n long normal looking nails. Not only does the classification fail to abide the sequence of the greek alphabet, but the classification concerning mutation (resting state or default state) concealment is binary. The classification with respect to greek alphabet alignment was adopted by lazy writers who just thought it sounded cool. Eh, Mutants, and Mutates are as still mainline humans, manifesting the potential instilled in human by Celestial tinkering. It just mutates manifest their due to outside stressors and Muants due to inborn genetics (my own headcanon is that X-gene is itself a stressor, a genetic syndrome that causes either death or development of powers). There is a classification of Beyond Omega and Storm, Franklin Richards, Jean Grey, Scarlet Witch and a few others are there. There are videos on that subject outlining the difference. Omega level powers may be confined to planetary in scale but beyond Omwga is not confined to planetary influence but nebulae, star systems, galactic etc. Then there are those on the cosmic scale. Much more than what is mentioned here.

Explanation is ass. Gambit is Alpha, he downgraded from Omega. Wolverine and Sabretooth are beta because they have the same healing factor. Magneto/Storm/Franklin Richard/Proteus are Omega.

Wolverine is actually an alpha level mutant, but he should be an omega because of his ability to kill and survive against omega level mutants. Wolverine was the one who killed the dark Phoenix when nobody else could. Dark Phoenix defeated Magneto, Professor X, Storm, and Rogue, but Wolverine killed her in a 1-on1 battle.
