@@TheMythologyGuy1 hey myth. Just want to give you an small explanation of why is Kratos is able to kill gods, even before he got the power of a God. The reason why he is able to kill them is not because he's a mortal, but its because of his blades of Chaos. Since you saw the beggining of the game, the primordial God of Chaos is acctually part of the blades of chaos (body parts of something like that), because in the gow novels There's a reference that the blades were acctually made from pieces of the primordial God of Chaos. That is why he's able to kill them. Also, if you are also woundering why the blades of chaos are the only weapons that didnt lose power, you are gonna LOVE what is gonna be revealed in Ragnarök 😉

The loophole Santa Monica used to explain the murder of Furies by our pasty Spartan is that they chose to make Furies neither deities nor mortals, which was stated in the intro cutscene, thus giving us an explanation to why a very angry mortal could unalive them. Inaccurate to the myth, but not technically to the established lore:)

One of the things that made me fall in love with Greek mythology/religion is the nuance and respect that the Greek people gave to their deities and the kindness those deities have shown toward mortals. Kronos may have devoured his children but he did bring the golden age to humans, Atlas may be imprisoned by still moves the constellations around the world to help sailors in their travels, and the Gigantes may have been created with the sole reason of avenging the Titans but they were founders of great cities. Even Typhon, I certainly believe that in minds of the ancient Greeks would bring prosperity to the world had he succeeded in overthrowing Zeus. As such this channel, which is so well-researched and presented, has been a godsend to me. So great job aways and thank you very much.

If I remember correctly, the Juggernaut, which I believe was the name of the elephant enemies, was stated by a developer to be in the game simply because they had its design cut from a previous game and they just really wanted to use it the new game. (which, at the time, was Ascension) The GoW team certainly is creative with their ideas, even if they aren't always mythologically accurate. Also, on the bit about not being able to say the name of the goddess of justice, it's funny to me that whether you say it with modern phonetics, in that it rhymes with "spikey", you might get the ever-vengeful eye of KZfaq on you, but if you pronounce it with ancient Greek phonetics, her name would be "Dicky", almost like the clothing company, which just makes her sound like the goddess of pants. It's been great watching you go through this whole series, though. It's been really entertaining and you've more than earned your audience through your work in these videos. I look forward to seeing you cover more games, as well as all the other content you put out.

In god of war ONLY, they all rebelled against Zeus at some point. Aigaon/Briareus was chained by the Furies and killed by Kratos in Ascencion. Congrats on your 1M subscribers! Love your videos! This isn't related to the video, but I was looking through the myths and noticed something interesting, and wanted to know what you thought. We all know Hera is vengeful against the sons of Zeus that aren't hers, but I've noticed that Zeus has had a lot of daughters, too, and as far as I could tell, Hera doesn't seem to care about that. She seemed only to oppress the sons and their mothers. I also read that Hera as actually the seventh of seven wives of Zeus, and the only one of his wives Hera had a problem with was Leto, mother of Artemis and Apollo. Not Metis, not Themis, not Eurynome, not Demeter, not Mnemosyne. Yes, Hera is definitely pissed off at Zeus' affairs, but I think there's another reason: I think she feels threatened by his sons politically. She felt threatened by Leto giving birth to Apollo, who could potentially take the throne (and he did try it), and prevented her from giving birth on dry land even while in the pangs of labor. She tricked Semele into getting incinerated and drove Dionysus insane for a good while before he was accepted into Olympus. Hermes was at least smart enough to outwit her so that she didn't get the chance to hurt him, even after he killed Argus. I just thought it strange that she never once (as near as I can tell) tried to directly harm Zeus' daughters from the goddess Athena to Helen of Troy, but she directed her anger at Zeus' sons and their mothers--even when one of those mothers was a legitimate wife of Zeus. Logically, as the goddess of marriage, she should have been fine with it, even if she was forced to legally share her husband. No, it was probably her place as the Queen of Olympus that she feared losing more than her husband, in my opinion. Very interested to hear yours! Congratulations again!

@jdrvargo287 Жыл бұрын
Those weren't wives. Those were mistresses. While Zeus did have other wives before Hera, he divorced each of them in turn before marrying her. And she hated his daughters from his affairs too. For example, she hated Artemis a lot. Hera did not make distinction between gender when it came to her hatred of Zeus' illegitimate children. It's not a political thing, it's an honor thing.

See.. if we talk about combat, I go with ascension but if we are talking about a story I go with the chain of Olympus

Chains of Olympus in terms of story, Ascension has good gameplay but the story either doesn't make sense or is told better in games before it

Poseidon giving you Ice powers always felt out of place. Yes, I get Ice is another form of Water, but the series has made it abundantly clear that his main element is liquid water with electricity as a secondary element. Like, did the dev team have a hard time making a Water based moveset for Kratos or something? Also, I'm surprised that you didn't point out that Ares isn't the god of fire but still bestows the power of Fire.

Some myths describe Ares as having fire for eyes and bringing fire to the battlefield. So even though he isn’t the god of fire, he does technically have fire to give
@mersunarytigre
@mersunarytigre 11 ай бұрын
@@TheMythologyGuy1 Interesting, I did not know that about Ares. Now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever seen any Greek gods in media make use of Fire as their main element or ability. Pretty crazy given how commonly used Fire is for powerful beings On an unrelated note, I'm kinda disappointed that the death of Hephaestus did not cause volcanoes to erupt like crazy given the fact that he's the god of volcanoes iirc. In fact, why does he attack Kratos with random lightning abilities instead of fire or lava ?

I do appreciate the original take on Greek Myth that the GOW franchise has but it's eternally frustrating when they conflate Roman and Greek versions of the myths 🤦

23:42 Yeah, exactly! LMFAO😅🤣😂 Now that the Greek pantheon is done, I was hoping you could do the Norse pantheon in the series with God of War 2018 and Ragnarok. You could argue that we’ve got Mimir, “The Smartest Man alive”, and these two games are long as F&#%, Still wishful thinking. As for any movies, can I suggest Clash and Wrath of the Titans(2010-2011) with Sam Worthington? But then we got the stupid copyright system… Edit: I’m sorry about your mother(R.I.P.) and your father who’s a real kleptomaniacal assh$%*

Thank you for the donation! Yeah both the Norse games and the Clash of the Titans movies have been highly requested so those are on the list. Copyright will likely be annoying. Literally every movie review I’ve ever posted has been copyright claimed at some point. Yeah I don’t like my dad either. I’ve completely cut him out of my life

@The Mythology Guy I am sorry, bro. I hope you are managing well without him. BTW, try Thor movies. There are a number of inaccuracies as per the Norse myths, like Loki, who is depicted as being the brother of Thor but actually is brother of Odin in the myths.
