He’s got a really wild type of style. He conveys anger and pain in combat really well. Really likes the small stuff, I think. Don’t know much about animating, but I like what this guy does.

Just imagine this for a second: Tate, Shida, and Takahashi are taken to the hyperbolic time chamber. So with all of their spare time, they decide to completely reanimate Super and GT while fixing all the plotholes EDIT: I didn’t make myself clear since I’m kind of clueless, I meant they simply reanimate, while having some qualified writers fix the show. Honestly now that I think about it, this comment is kinda dookie since yeah, these are some great animators, but the others like Tate, Onishi, etc are incredible as well. It’s kinda stupid to ask for a show with only 3 animators and no variety in the animation.

they are not writers, they are animators. But if you want someone, I'd recommend Megumi Ishitani as director. She is the one who directed 131. I'd also have shintani as character designer and supervising director. King Ryu as script writer then we're good.

Paul Benedict Esguerra unseeded, sure the animation would’ve been better and KZfaqrs/media would’ve probably stopped dissing it so much, but Shida was only brought in to really make an important scene that much more impactful, otherwise we would have appreciated the whole series a little less overall in those special moments if the art style was that superior all the time. The movie did a good job tho

@@vinnyn10 Shintani, and he only makes the designs and overlooks the animations to make sure they fall inline with the character sheets. Shida sticks to the character sheets but often goes rogue and gives us these gems of fight scenes.

@@vaazon Before the summoning of shenron, the whole Gogeta vs Broly fight (besides the psychedelic cgi part) was made by Shida. Vegeta vs broly fight had different animators on it but the animation supervisor for that fight was yuya Takahashi hence the amazing buu saga art style. Goku vs broly fight up until the point where broly breaks free from the energy cage thing and punching asay ssjgod goku, was almost entirely done by Ryo Onishi. Naoki tate did some of the goku ssj blue fight part in the volcanic part and some of the argument part from goku and vegeta on fusion.

No wonder they used Shida's animations for Dokkan Battle' s super attacks. His art is phenomenal and inspiring. The first scene in particular, INT Transforming Goku Rose' s super attack is in my opinion one of the best looking SA in the game. Shida captures the fights amazingly Mad respect to Naotoshi Shida sensei. Edit: Equally favourites Takahashi and Tate of course.

Zexal Which scenes did he do? There's been so many good ones lately but Shida just has that weight and impact that super mostly lacks imo edit: Just watched all of his scenes. I think overall he has better artwork (that Kale transformation in 115 was legendary pun intended) and hand to hand fight scenes but Shida does flashy fights better like stuff with beams, auras and stuff. He made a scene of generic energy blasts look very dynamic in the Goku and Trunks vs Black and Zamasu fight look amazing with the way the scene shifted as Goku dodged the blasts, and Ui Goku getting triggered speaks for itself

guilherme barbosa debatable. The art is much cleaner but the z movies had some amazing fights and Super still lacks the sheer weight and brutality of the combat in z. That one hit against Jiren is the exception

When they use this animator, he makes it seem like they're actually fighting. every other animator just alternates between three frames, and using the audio: "AATATATATTATATAATATATTATATATATTATATATATTATATATAT"

How to identify Naotoshi Shida's work: 1. Beautiful Shading 2. Amazing Camera Angles and Movement 3. His trademark Smoke Plumes 4. Fluid Blasts and explosions 5. Highly detailed stills 6. Non-stop action, sometimes even in one single scene, like in the Goku vs Hearts fight, or Goku Black Rosé vs Goku Blue. 7. Overly-Dramatic art and animation, like Frieza at 1:28, or some close ups with Goku in the movies, and other fights.
