What I love about Indian beauties is that their beauty is uniquely exotic and the way they speak is so spontaneous and it shows the intelligence that they possess. We Filipinos love Indian beauties and we are friends with them. Sushmita, Lara and Harnaaz, we admire them so much. Sushmita will always have a place in every Filipinos’ hearts, Lara is one of the best Miss Universe ever and Harnaaz is a sweetheart. Love from the Philippines 🌷🇮🇳 x 🇵🇭

Thank you so much, I think it must also be ingrained in India's beauty queens to also speak as humbly and diplomatically as possible about this kind of notion of physical beauty, no matter what business they are in fact working in. Oftentimes they are posed tricky questions comparing different women's beauty and they need to respond with grace. I see Japan's women and beauty icons speak similarly in a modest fashion about physical beauty. Must be some kind of an Asian cultural thing? In any case, keep rocking it, Philippines. I loved Pia Wutzbach in 2015!

India should've been the first back-to-back country winner in 1994 (Sushmita Sen) and 1995 (Manpreet Brar, 1st runner up) but in 1995 they gave the crown to Chelsi Smith, Miss USA. I thought Manpreet Brar did the best and had the best answer in the closing final round.

My favorite was Manpreet Brar...her answers were awesome and her command over English was impeccable and fantastic diction.And the way she spoke with confidence was unmatched. She was the most underrated Miss India I feel.And Madhu Sapre too who studied in the vernacular medium school and improvised her diction to compete for the Miss Universe title.

You know there are extremely successful contestants from around the world like Spanish speaking countries who do not speak a lick of English at the event in front of the entire public? They have a translator. It sure would be nice if Indian contestants who happen to not be as strong in English be given the similar chance to respond in Hindi (or Tamil or Bengali) let the translator hustle so others understand. If the Miss Universe contest can appreciate the sexiness of Spanish, it can also appreciate the sexiness of Hindi. No need for our country to grovel always - "prove the English!" India is one of top global beauty contenders!

Most successful country 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 in 90's MISS UNIVERSE alongside with Venezuela. All are very smart and beautiful. My favorite are Sushmita, Lara, Madhu, Nafisa and Manpreet. I really miss when pageants were like this in the 90s . Especially the on stage interviews you got to know the ladies . Also miss the little sisters in the evening gown . The pageants were all about contestants not the host cracking corny jokes

The organisation that time didn't want a back to back win for same country. That's the only reason. Another reason is USA didn't win the title for 15 years and when the show was started you can see the host and back ground voice used to repeat the same thing. And the pageant is held in Africa and Miss USA is African origin that also went her favor.

Madhu & Manpreet were the best from this decade apart from Sushmita of course . Gul Panag 1999 was amazing too . She spoke to the point & showed maturity . Not sure why she didn't make it further though. Nafisa Joseph - 1997 spooked me with her answer .. her answer that to bring a child to this world and then not provide peace . Somehow reflects an inner turmoil she was going thru.it's unfortunate she ended her life.

It’s always the most well rounded person, she was and is all those things but she only beat Chelsi in one category that night in the scoring (Evening Gown). She wasn’t robbed, it’s one person’s destiny to win and it wasn’t hers it was Chelsi’s.

The 90's was truly the Indian Golden times, I am beyond happy that India is regaining its momentum. I will say, one thing you wont ever beat an Indian contestant is in an interview, no matter if they placed in a low or high position, the poise, the effortless way of speaking, i could enjoy hearing all of these women speak about serious topics without being bored

Honestly Manpreet could had won MU1995... I think because susmita won MU1994 and that's the reason why she didn't win. Offcourse it was a back to back victory.. Honestly Manpreet had better communication skills than Susmita according to their questions and answers.

Appearances had higher importance back then. If you observe, the winners have a softer facial features during that time. Manpreet had more prominent harsh facial features (which are beautiful as well) but I don't think the judges were looking for that. Manpreet would have won in the current IMG era. Back then, most winners were more docile and sweet (like sushmita). Just my observation.

Lymarhyna D'Souza's gown is one of my favorite gowns in the 90's it's so beautiful and can still be worn in today's pageants! On the other hand Suzanna Sablok is the sexiest and has that Baywatch body! It was an impressive run for India in the 90's, the last 4 reps (1997-2000) have distinctively beautiful faces!

I have been watching Miss Universe since 2011 It's been 11 to 12 years now From what I watched in this video... I would like to begin with a big heartfelt thanks to the Miss Universe organization for this beautiful 90s queens in a video from MUO Manpreet Brar is a woman who could have been the best Miss Universe for rest of the queens MUO chosen I personally believe if IMG was organizing that year's edition, regardless of who or where the reigning queen from, the crown 👑 would have been on Manpreet Brar's head It was unfortunately an era where back to back to a country just won its first was not entertained... 1999 Gul panag is also someone we could have seen in top 3 if her ss and eg performances were better 1998, the evening gown was spectacular. I don't know why she got low scores All and all, India excelled in those years I wish, these fine women, especially Manpreet should be a part of Miss Diva organization A lot of love from one of the biggest pageant lovers ❤️
