Shanks never fought Kaido, they confronted each other but most likely Shanks convinced Kaido to stand down since Shanks had his main crew and Kaido was outmatched because of that. This situation is likely considering Shanks went to MF to stop the conflict, death, and destruction from continuing. So preventing Kaido’s arrival to the battlefield was another part of Shank’s plans to stop the chaos in MF

Kaido was also unscathed from his fight with Shanks too btw. This was shown in Yamato's flashback in episode 1015 where Yamato ran outside when they saw Ace's vivre card burning. Kaido was annoyed that Shanks interferred with with plans to invade Marineford. Not trying to ride Kaido's whale side dong, but saying Kaido and Shanks' battle was one sided is a bit disingenious. Also it's hard to really call it a fight considering we don't really know if they fought or not (Though I do think they probably clashed).

I doubt shanks fought kaido since the war only lasted a few hour but we know that fight between strong opponents of the same level take days. Him being there probably just stopped kaido from attacking since he would have lose too much time on shanks

Shanks likely didn't fight Kaido since Shanks came back with 0 damage. Or it was the entire crew vs Kaido(+plus a a few members at most). Because if Shanks could defeat Kaido that easily then he would have no need to stop Kaido from reaching Marineford if he could beat him easily. So if he did that then it would mean Shanks wanted Whitebeard and others to die as he could have gone to Marineford and not worry about Kaido jumping in.

The streak of defeats Kaido has doesn't really convey that he is weak. Instead, it adds to his potential by showing that he got defeated by all the big shots, and yet never died or got killed. If anything, his defeat streak shows that Kaido is the most battle hardened character in One Piece. And since failure is just a part of success, it also sheds light on Kaido's will of not giving up and keep striving. Which rightfully earned him the Yonkou spot.

Defeat doesn't necessarily imply a loss in a one on one fight. Shanka couls have just damaged Kaido's ship or something and that would count as a defeat since Kaido was prevented from achieving his goals at the time.

So that was dude at peak strength, and even Shanks who’s a Wano supporter wouldn’t… Before Marineford… probably had a future sight battle, or something and turned tail… I just cant see those two clashing and not getting another scar.
