Extra detail for the hammer bro spirit: with both Yoshi and the assist trophy present, it references how Hammer Bros often appear with two of them at a time.

I feel like people don't appreciate spirit battles. To me, it's like event battles but every battle is based around a character and I think that fits so well with trying to represent characters that aren't in Smash already. True video game celebration, and if you understand the references that's like a bonus.

Something I’ve noticed is that the Spirit list for Mario is separated into categories. 18-20: Items 21-30: Other forms of characters 31-35: Toads + Waluigi 36-66: Mario series-wide enemies and bosses 67-70: Super Mario Sunshine 71-75: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 76 & 77: Super Mario 3D World 78-80: Super Mario Odyssey 81-93: Mario Kart vehicles 94-112: Mario RPGs 113-133: Sports and miscellaneous spinoffs

One thing to note about the Metal Mario fight being set in Great Cave Offensive is that it might also represent the cavern in Hazy Maze Cave where you unlock the Metal Mario power-up, which itself was the inspiration for the Meta Crystal stage of Smash 64.

I will be sure to watch all of the episodes of this new series. I love how many references they try to put in, some being genius like Yusuke using Chrom, since they have the same EN and JP VA, as well as both being blue haired sword wielding dudes.

4:27 This is actually Melty MONSTER Galaxy from SMG2. Not Melty MOLTEN from SMG1 like you said. The Rock powerup wasn't in SMG1 and Melty MONSTER's second star is a long rolling course you have to survive as Rock Mario plus there's a secret star where you play bowling as Rock Mario.

Something to add to the Koopa Spirit: When someone jumps on Squirtle while he's on the ground, he'll flip over onto his back and be left vulnerable for a bit. Subtle reference to the shell creepers from the OG Mario Bros

Super and Poison Mushrooms in Toad's battle could reference his perks in the Mario Kart games. In most of the games he gets mushrooms or triple mushrooms from item boxes more often, and in Super Mario Kart, his special ability as a CPU is throwing poison mushrooms at the other racers.

Never understood why they didn't add Metal Mario stage, I know it isn't that impressive but it was so fitting for a final stage battle against anyone, a final destination you might say

About the Toad spirit. The Toad featured in Super Mario Bros. 2 is Blue Toad, which is the same Toad that would later be seen in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D World, and later on in Super Mario Maker 2. The one Toad commonly seen in spinoffs is a separate Toad entirely, with his distinction being his blue coat and red cap.

An extra reference with Squirtle and Koopa Troopa: Squirtle's side special can be jumped on similarly to a koopa shell. Also... I can't wait until you get to the 'miscellaneous' spirit section. Nintendo had thought showing a bunch of characters from the main roster series wasn't enough, so there are a bunch of DS titles thrown in that like no one knows or cares about (like Num Diddly, no good footage existed last time I checked).

Super Mushroom: Stats + after Eating Upon getting a Super Mushroom in the mainline Mario games, Mario gets bigger, is able to break the Brick Blocks, and can take a single hit from an enemy without dying. Fire Flower: Fire Flower Equipped Pretty self-explanatory. Shoots out a stream of fire, just like how the original Fire Flower enabled Mario to throw fireballs. 12:44 Nope, they're _chestnut_ people, their Japanese name is "kuribo/kuribou/kuriboh", which roughly translates to "chestnut person". Though for some reason the galoombas (kuribon (kuriboh plus a japanese affectionate way of saying "boys", unlike the yugioh card that bilingually mashed together "kurbioh" and "ribbon") look more like chestnuts in spite of their Japanese name being more derivative.

So why does the Toad spirit use the mushroom hat, while there's a perfectly good Toad hat, which the Toadette fight uses. I guess it could be a reference to small Toad, as when toad gets hit the spots switch colour but it still is kinda weird.

Dear Aaronitmar, I like all of your "Every {blank} S.S.B.U. videos." but there's some fun "Amiibo" facts you may have overlooked. If a player scans a Wedding Outfit Peach Amiibo or Wedding Outfit Bowser Amiibo, they receive a Spirit of that character (respectively) as well as an AI-controlled Figure Player of the character (respectively). If a player scans a Waluigi , Goomba, or Koopa Troopa Amiibo, they receive a Spirit of that character (respectively). That's all for now, keep up the good work!
