It's hard to convey just how much of a sensation the Amiga was (sound- and graphics-wise) for us 70s/80s kids who had started out with VCS2600s and had upgraded to Sinclair Spectrums or C-64s when we first encountered the Amiga. I still remember marvelling at some of the early games on that thing or simply being blown away by some audio-demo. The only other "leap forward" that came close was playing Wolfenstein 3D and Wing Commander 2 on my first VGA-capable, SoundBlaster equipped PC (a 386 with 8MB of RAM and a *gasp* 300MB HDD ;) . Smartphones and the internet are cool, but I pity those who are too young to have experienced the era(s) of early consoles and of home-computers. God, I sound like an old fart... :D

Thanks for sharing, I am born in '78 and I have still strong emotion for my commodore Amiga. I would like to add a modern console to your list. Playstation 1. I avoided console untill that moment when Sony brought me in 3d world with titles such tomb raider, tekken, resident evil. I get back to PC just 10 years after, and now I enjoy simulations with an oculus rift. We are lucky. We began with pong and now we can walk in virtual reality!

I never even heard of the Amiga growing up in the 90s. I didn't learn about it until around 2001 when I was into the game Street Rod. I was playing the DOS version and learned their was an Amiga version and I was amazed with how much better it looked and sounded. I started looking into other Amiga games and for the late 80s early 90s they are VERY impressive! As far as I'm aware there was nothing else for the home market that could produce such amazing graphics at that time.

I used to have this game on Amiga and all I remember is "insert disc 2 ... Insert disc 1.... Insert disc 3" 2 minutes of game play later "insert disc 1... Insert disc 2..." A tragic yet satisfying memory for me 😂

Imagine you had the CGA version and you thought that is just how the game was. Then you go over to a friends house who has an Amiga 500 and they load up Monkey Island. Your mind would be blown!

There's a CD-ROM version where there is no intro music but instead some sound effects. The best intro in my opinion.

Monoscope rules! :) I did my logo on an italian monoscope around 2004, Istill use it here on the tube. It was useful when I used to do live visual to set the beamer's colors.

Ciao, credo che tu abbia fatto un errore di battitura, la Monkey Island è uscita nel 90, non 80. Avevo un dubbio su questo visto gli anni già trascorsi, ma ho verificato: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_of_Monkey_Island P.s. Finita 1&2 su Amiga 500, la 3 quella in 3D sono rimasto a metà con il Pc.

'85 to '87 is night 'n' day. No disrespect to what came before but the ST was crap! (even the STe) Amiga forever! (EDIT: And all this off four floppy disks, 880K Amiga disks of course, far superior!) *MIDI compatibility excluded, of course.

Weird video, with lots of mistakes. There was no PC before 1981, Amiga is from 1985, Adlib 1988, etc. Most of all, this is nonsense as tje game is from 1990.

Thanks for the comment, as I wrote multiple times if u play music of a game from 1990 on a 80's PC is not a mistake, but probably you had no time to read all the comments, Understandabler, about amiga I refer to amiga 500 (1987); regarding adlib 1988 same answer. But it is always a pleasure to receive a comment that could improve quality of the video. U like what I did at the end of the video?
