Amazing how those guys in the rubber and poly ball eras got the ball to carry with so little entry angle. Covering like 5 boards tops lol. Dead eye accurate.

I saw Benoit’s 300 and have it on VHS. I was most impressed by the fact it was his first TV appearance-and all 12 strikes were solid in the pocket, no “lucky breaks.” He also used a 15 pound ball.

Love it in the older videos how classy the spectators are, Gentlemen in ties or smart shirts, ladies in dresses and blouses, the best generation.

Best generation if you were a straight, white man. If you were anything else you weren’t represented in government, you didn’t have rights to sue your husband if he raped you. You could be legally fired for being pregnant and there was no Dutch thing as sexual harassment.

Thanks for this JH223 - great list! I've kept a list of 300 games but knew I had something wrong, and I had not seen Jason Queen or Rhino Page's games, so this sets my list straight. Thanks again!

It’s because technically the entire tournament is broadcasted live so there’s more games bowled on tv between everyone than any other tournament on tv.. so more ample opportunities to do it

Thanks to who did this video. To you kids today who hook it a ton, look at Jim Stefanich at #3 who I saw string the front 8 in a tournament when some best couldn't get the ball to wrinkle as us Oldgoats called it in the day. I bowled 35 years and only shot 298,297 and 4 290's.😏

I started bowling in 1995 with a reactive resin ball (Turbo XL) and bowled a 300 less than a year later. The balls and the synthetic lanes are like cheating, sometimes I have a five board target. I’m still a 195 at age 62. I think your high games probably meant more because you really earned them. I have 27 300’s and have no idea how many in the 280-299 range.
@cadillacguy1890
@cadillacguy1890 3 ай бұрын
Interesting that the vast majority of televised 300’s occur in the modern era, urethane and reactive resins, synthetic lanes, plastic pins. Is that the reason, or are today’s bowlers better than ever?
@oldgoat50
@oldgoat50 2 ай бұрын
Huh, read my comment. In my day if you hooked it 8 boards you had big hand. I bowled against Don McCune and his son Eugene in 83.
@styner3
@styner3 14 күн бұрын
I would say the guys in the 60’s-80’s were better because they had to be. I started bowling in 1994 with a reactive resin ball and bowled a 300 less than a year later. The new technology is move forgiving and “almost” hooks by itself. I’ve bowled some pro/am and today’s pros are real good but the equipment and ball reps really help them dial in their shot.

That's what I didn't get with the list... Why were Mallot's "bonus"? Is it because they weren't PBA Telecast? I understand the team ones and the World Scoring, but surely some of the others were genuine individual TV 300S?
@bladeknockingon700
@bladeknockingon700 2 ай бұрын
@@anthonyjozefek7666it’s because they were made for tv events. Yes they were 300 games, but it didn’t count for a title or a major. 300 on tv counts only for a regular title or major. Any other event is a bonus one

horrible take considering that the first 2 hander to ever make a telecast (osku) made the show at the us open… arguably the hardest tournament. Jason himself even HAS a us open title and has made multiple us open shows. foot of room my ass, just say you can’t beat a 2 hander…
@hugebear53

There's a lot more than just no thumb 1 or 2 hands involved. Synthetic lanes, programmable oiling machines. We've gone from rubber to plastic, urethane, and now reactive resin balls. Weight blocks from a simple pancake to symmetrical and asymmetrical cores. Training methods have improved, etc. Today's bowlers would eat those lanes and patterns, 1 handed, no thumb, or 2 handed. That's just the evolution of the game. I would like to see pin weight increased to counter the crazy pin action.
